Sorry yes. I was a bit busy the last days and partly didn't have access to the Internet.

You can send me diagrams to origamibook AT gmail DOT com.

Lets say the usual deadline December 15 and I hope to get everything done by December 24.
Only previously unpublished instructions (diagrams, photo diagrams, CPs + Picture of the final model) are allowed. You can send more than one model to "buy" previous editions. No, there is no other way to buy them, I don't give them away for money.

Dear all,

For the elevenths time there will be an Origami Christmas book this year.
This will be a book from creators to creators containing previously unpublished instructions only.

That's how it works:
Everyone who wants to participate sends me (at least) one previously unpublished folding instruction. Afterwards I assemble them all into a pdf-file with a table of contents and send it back to all participants. In the end everyone of them gets a nice compilation of diagrams that aren't available elsewhere.

(Replace "AT" with "@" and "DOT" with ".")

The last date to send your instructions is December 15.
I'll send the book out on December 24 (hence the name Christmas Origamibook).

Hopefully many people will contribute to this project so that we´ll get a nice book together

Some questions (and their answers) that have been asked before:

* Do I need to send computer drawn diagrams?
No, hand drawn diagrams or other clear instructions (photo or text) count as well, but I need them electronically.

* Can I send more than one diagram?
Yes of course, as many as you want.

* Can I have a copy of the book without sending something in?
No, this project is thought as an exchange of folding instructions and not to earn money with it. If you don't have an own model to diagram maybe you can draw diagrams for someone else's model, so that you two can participate as one person. For help in finding someone see here:

* Have the models to be Christmas related?
No they don't. Christmas is just the date you will receive the book.

* Can I send Crease Patterns and Text Instructions as well?
Yes, but make sure to also send a picture of the finished model.
Diagrams are preferred.

* Is it possible to obtain the books of the previous years?
Yes, by sending more than one unpublished diagram, you can "buy" previous editions (one book per additional diagram).
If you send more than one diagram and want to obtain back issues please tell which one(s) you want.

* How many participants contributed in previous years?
2015:
52 participants sent 76 models (16 CPs, 8 Photo-instructions).
The book was 249 pages long and 40MB in size.

To those who participated the previous years, I got a question.
Over the years it gets increasingly more difficult for me to handle the previous issues, because each year it gets one more. So this year I have already ten back issues that people can order. Sending those individualised Emails is a hell lot of work. I thought about maybe reducing it to the previous four or five books and uploading the older ones for free download. So every year at Christmas one old book would get free to download for all, whereas the previous four or five editions would still stay in the system with getting more issues by sending more diagrams.
Do you think that would be a good solution or do you prefer the books to stay unpublished for the wider audience? I'm a bit hesitant, because it is a change of rules, on the other hand it would make things a lot more comfortable to me. And like most of you probably know I think of quitting the project altogether because it gets to much work for me. This way I could reduce the work a lot, while still maintaining the initial goal.

Go ahead and release them for free, I don't think anyone would complain and if they do, tough luck.

I definitely wouldn't mind having access to the diagrams, BUT I don't have any of my own diagrams in those books. Some of the people whose diagrams are in those books might not want their diagrams in the public domain. I am not sure what you should do, exactly...

I also have no skin in the game. But, it might be easy enough to post a 'notice' or send out a broad email to all previous participants, asking anyone who objects to release of their diagrams to contact you. As long as copyright remains 'intact,' given the informality, that simple email request may be an adequate announcement.

And, if they object after the fact, you could remove that book.

I understand you want the C.O.B. to be free and on the internet even for people who don't send any diagram ?

If so, I think it would be really unfair for participants who spent a lot of time making a clear diagram, and I wouldn't participate anymore !

Only issues older than five years. The last four or five books would still only be available for people who send additional diagrams to obtain them.
The thing is this, the way I handle it now is definitely too much work. So the question is how to reduce it to an amount that is still doable by maintaining the initial idea of the project of an diagram exchange for designers.
To tell the truth I don't like the idea to take the possibility away to obtain the old books, I'd like it if people still can access them somehow. But I can also tell that distributing an ever growing amount of books to the participants is one of the points that may make me quit the project altogether. So for me it is reducing the number to four or five or quitting the project. The question then is what to do with the older books. Sure I can just not give them away anymore and will surely be asked for them regularly because people who weren't around at that time would like to get them anyway. Or I could take the password protection away and make them available for download, so everyone benefits. This is my preferred version.
Of course, if the participants are strongly opposed to that version I will refrain from doing so, but so far I got mainly positive reactions.

And if the most recent C.O.B. are not published, I'm ok if you upload the older ones for free download.

I have a number of models in previous editions and the first year i also profited from the back-issues offer.
Personally I wouldn't mind either way, not having volumes older than 5 years available at all (similar to Tanteidan Convention Books selling out) or making them publicly available after 5 years.
Personally I tend to submit my diagrams/CPs elsewhere quickly after the COB embargo if I think they are worth spreading so they would neither be lost nor is 5 years too short to "exploit" them elsewhere. However that all depends a bit on how people re-used their submissions to the COBs (sold exclusive rights to commercial publisher, etc.).
Alternative idea: bundle up all the COBs older than 5 years and you can get the collection of these for one additional submission (so the bundle rather than a single issue), so some kind of a "welcome present" for people new to COB.

The bundle is an idea, I need to think about, but I'd still prefer the open variant.

And to make things easier for future years, maybe from now on you could request some kind of permission for the rights of the diagrams to later be freely released.
