Can one use coloured lines for diffrentiating MOUNTAIN and VALLEY folds in any origami diagrams ???
For example :
RED Line for Mountain Fold
GREEN Line for Valley Fold

While it is possible, it is also not recommended, because it is a disadvantage to colour blind folders. It also doesn't print well in black and white. Different lines on the other hand are easily distinguished, what makes them the preferred variant. Also why invent the wheel anew if there already is an easy to understand convention that is used world wide?

Occasionally in crease patterns, red indicates mountain and blue indicates valley. This is not usually the case in diagrams, though.

Standard: something set up and established by authority, custom, or general consent as a rule for the measure of quantity, weight, extent, value, or quality.

That's what standards are for, so that people from different backgrounds can understand each other. Unless you have a special purpose for the colors of your creases that you haven't told us about.

I understand the points posted to my posts.
The reason for coloured mountain and valley fold symbol is :
I use paint brush tool for origami daigram in which coloured lines are easy to draw. I do not have any other software tool.

Then install Inkscape. It is a free vector graphic program that is far better suited for drawing Origami diagrams than paint.

If you decide to install Inkscape, there's a great intro by Jason Ku at https://origamiusa.org/thefold/article/ ... gramming-1

There are also a couple of instructional videos by Jo Nakashima and Max Danger. Just type in "Inkscape Origami" on Youtube to find them.

I use inkscape for my diagrams - great program and free! I think Shuki Kato uses inkscape as well (or at least he used to)

In Robert J Lang's book Origami Design Secrets 2 he uses green, brown, and blue lines to indicate axial, axial+1, axial+2, etc creases and red for ridge creases. At the same time, he uses the solid lines for mountains and dashed lines for valleys.
