Paper size for Lang book.

Post by Origame »

For Robert Lang's first book on origami insects, what would be the minimum paper size for the models? Will tracing paper work for those models?

For most models 20x20 cm is about the minimum paper size that still folds comfortably, but especially the samurai helmet beetle, the scorpion, the butterfly and the pill bug are easier with a slightly larger square. Tracing paper will definitely work, but I think it tears rather easily so be careful.

The treehopper, the tick and maybe the orb weaver will turn out alright if you use that, but any other model from the book won't turn out very well and will become unnecessarily difficult. It's preferable to use a slightly larger piece of paper and, if you have it, a thinner kind of paper (like tracing paper for example). Most of the models are possible from standard A4 printer paper, but not all of them will look good.
