Sorry, I'm extremely stressed. I don't have time to organise it this year. Maybe someone else can do it instead.
I can offer to upload it when time comes, but I definitely don't have time to collect the models, write down who gets what, answer all the mails and put the book together.

I started to study computer science and digital communications on a university of applied science and am overburdened with all the work I have to do for my studies, it is just so so much to do. I hardly find enough time to sleep and fit all my other duties in.

Anna, I'm sorry you're so busy. I would love to organize it if I wasn't in a similar position.
Maybe it could be a joint effort? I'm still willing to help with whatever time I have to spare.

I would love to help. What programs do you need and what format do people submit designs in?

So far I accepted most available formats but I guess it would be possible to limit the formats to whatever you can process. The majority of files I received have been either pdf, jpg, png or doc.
I would usually combine the single pictures into files and then print every diagram to pdf. Furthermore I made a cover picture.
When all the individual pdfs are printed and correctly named, I would compile them into a big pdf file and write the index as a word file that I'd then include into the big pdf and add hyperlinks from the index to all the individual diagrams.
The programs I used the most were Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, IrfanView and Adobe Photoshop. Other programs I used include Inkscape, PowerPoint and PaintShop Pro.
Not all of them are absolutely necessary but Adobe Acrobat is a must.

Anna,
I can help in collecting, compiling, making index and finally making a one complete pdf. I have to find a way to send it to you so that it can be released from your end.

Lets not break a good effort which has been going on for last 12 years.

Hi Anna and Swarmy,
I can make a cover letter and help promote the Christmas book. Is there already a pre-written document detailing who to email by when which I could update? Also is there a fee to help support the forum?

I'm sorry I don't quite understand your questions, but I try to answer them.
My opening letter can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=14474#p148280
I usually would post it here on the Forum, on the Origami Mailing List and on the German Origami Forum and ask to spread the word.
Whom to email the book depends on who sends a submission. Of course I do have an excel list that I update as soon as a submission gets in, where I document Author, Model name, Email Address, what kind of instruction it is (diagram, CP, photo,...) and what book the individual instructions unlock (the first diagram is always the current edition, older editions can be "bought" by sending additional instructions). It's nothing fancy though, but if you wish I can send you the empty file with just the header.

If anyone wants to donate for the Forum, Saj gladly accepts donations at https://snkhan.co.uk/origami/donate.php

This is perfect. Is the origamibook email address solely for the Christmas book? If it is would it be possible for Swarmy to be given temporary access.

If not Swarmy are you able to specify your preferred email address?

I would also like to send the book out a little earlier on the 20th as the 24th is normally for me a no/low internet day with the focus being on cooking, cleaning and family, however far or close they may be.

We can add a not to be opened until Chrismas day to keep the gift aspect without the last minute stress.

Please let me know if this is okay.

Grace.

Regarding the Origamibook email address: it is heavily interwoven with my main email account, therefore I don't want to share the password, sorry. But opening up a new account is pretty easy.

If you want to organize a book this year, you should in any case start soon, especially if the book shall be done even earlier than usual.

A hint: the last submission date is the busiest and you will receive more than half of the submissions on that day and a good couple the day afterwards from people who forgot the due date or didn't manage in time, or are simply in a different time zone than you. You should consider this in your planning.

Thanks...

I was so focused and cheking the post heading with "Christmas Origami Boook 2018" that I missed the other post.

My mistake, my loss.

Will surely participate in 2019.
