Will I infringe copyright on this?

Post by OrigamiMonsters »

Hey guys, I’m new here, I’m going to publish my first book and it’s an origami tutorial book that teach my imagination monsters, movie characters and games characters. Most of the movie and game characters looks really close to the real thing, if I put their real name in my book, will I infringe their copyright? My book will be sell on amazon and this book take me 4 years to make, I really hope my hard work won’t be a meaningless waste…

#Note: I just get informed there’s a book that teach a model represent Spider-Man but named as superhero, so mine should be fine as long as I change their respective names?

If so, do I need to change my section names too? My section names are, Fantasty Monsters, Movie Characters, Games Characters.

When in doubt, the best thing to do is to rename models to something more generic (e.g., The Yellow Bird by Kamiya; Spenjurmunni by Lang). If you're worried about infringing on copyrights, you can always ask permission to use the models--the worst they can say is no. In most cases, however, you can probably just use generic names. (A Godzilla can be a "Movie Monster," for example.)
After the fall, we rise.

I personally can't give you better advice than to ask a lawyer. I simply don't know what is a better idea in this scenario. I just thought that the blog post could help you out a bit since it was written by a team of lawyers.

Best of luck with your project!
