Chinese modular origami

Post by Canso »

Hey people

I folded the modular swan from opane and I started to search for more modular stuff. The problem is I can't find any clear diagrams on the net anywere.

Could somebody lend me a little hand??

Hi Canso,

Now that you have finished the swan, most models begin exactly like it....just different number of units. Here's a site with many diagrams.....not in English though. But look at the number at the end of each row of triangles and that is the number of units needed. Give it a try and write back if you need help.

You can get ready to fold paper at opane.com, or make them into 1.5"X2.75". What i do is use a sheet of white copy paper and fold it till i get the desired size rectangle approx. that size

You may not find this very helpful, but I've found some awesome sites on modular folding. Try...

I love the chaos cube by Linda Mihara. It looks great in red and black.

Hey ~folder~of~paper~

In order to save myself the trouble of figuring this out....
What extra folds do you need to add in order to make the Chaos Cube 3-D? I am assuming that the cube takes 12 pices to make.

It has to be six pieces as far as I can see from the pictures. The extra creases to make the model 3d have to be mountains from the point where the bonefolder lies in step 4 downward to the little triangular gap between the to models (all the way through from one side to the other).

Chaos Cube

Post by ~folder~of~paper~ »

I have no idea how I did it, I spent hours on it trying to figure it out and just, magically somehow worked out the joining method...
there's another cube i like, it looks fab made with pastel coloured paper. I made one, but I can't upload the photo, because the file is way too big, but heres the website anyways... The model is the Froebel Ball...

It's in gibberish, but the diagrams are simple. Basically, you need glue and 6 windmill bases. Read through it so you know how to match colours of the modules. Happy folding! :D
