How do you start step 1 to 5 for the Bahamut? It seems like I have to do guess work on the lines. How far do I fold up the paper on step 1?

How do you usually measure out the 1/8? Can I do it without using a ruler?

Divide the paper in Half, so you have 1/2, divide it again, so you have 1/4, once again, now you have 1/8.
Have you folded anything before?

Don't be evil Origami_8... :)
I think he doesn't want to make creases that are not necessary...
I usually use anoter bit of paper, make it the same length og the part I have to divide, and I fold this aux paper and use it to se where I have to fold...

hmm... you only need two creases to get the 8th. the 3rd one is already the 8th that you searched. a more optimized way for this should only have one single crease. is that possible?

First thanks for the clarifications. My intention was not to make many creases. I'm happy with the advice but some how found myself at odd with your question...origami_8 you may or may not be good but certainly I do not consider myself as an origami connoisseur, like satoshi, kawahata, brill, and etc. That is why I always look for new advices and helps (learn from those who have learned). When ppl ask me for ways to fold a certain step, I try to help them as best as I can, anyway that I can because I realize that origami challenges you to interpret and that different people have different ways of learning. It is more satisfying for me to hear the simple word of "thanks" rather than me bouncing back and asking a question like "Have you folded anything before?" I do not pretend to be a connoisseur.

:( Sorry!
It was really evil of me asking something like this, hope you can forgive me.

About the creases, you don´t need to make them strong along the hole paper, a soft crease on one side of the paper will do as well, only to mark where the next crease should end of.

:D origami_8 no problem. In a way I think this is fun! haha But however I think I'm gonna try to kick my addiction to complex models. Most of the time I find myself just sitting trying to force through the diagrams and really not enjoying it. A friend of mine said that origami is fun when the paper "folds itself." I believe that is very true. Complex diagrams look great but most of the time it's not as enjoyable as some of the simplier ones. I think one of my favorite to fold is, Kormatsu's Horned Owl. Have you guys tried that out yet? I think the new appropiate name for this owl should be "Cute as Hell" owl. hahha

Yes! horned owl is very nice to fold...
You should try Komatsu Horse also, it is surely more complex, but when you fold it, it's like you said "the paper fold himself". Amazing...
And the diagrams don't put you in problems like 1/8 division ecc... :)

bye
