Best flat model

Lately I folded Joseph Wu's Eastern Dragon and started to wonder, what's the best flat model, that's out there. until now, I can't make a decision, but maybe you guys can??

Choosing the best flat model is like choosing the best origami animal, or the best modular...

maybe the best looking... maybe the most fun to fold model... choose for yourself

I would say Hideo Komatsu's Horse or even Jeff Beynon's Spring into Acttion (which is stored flat).

I love Soon Young Lee's talking lips - they fold flat,
and when you give it to someone to open, they get
a nice surprise, and you get great reactions.

couldn't every model somehow be stored... well... flat?!

I donâ€™t think so,

Leong Chin has gone into detail on the O-list saying how every polyhedral is able to be stored flat but this takes away from the model. If something is ment to be 3 dimensional then it cant be flat.

Robert Lang in his book ODS goes into great detail explaining how a crease pattern needs to be assembled to be folded flat. I also believe Kasahara or Kawasaki has published a paper on the specific attributes that flat origami attains.

So I believe models like David Brillâ€™s 3 dimensional rhino http://www.themountainfold.com/paul/boo ... _rhino.jpg cannot be folded flat.

To answer the original question, I believe John Montrollâ€™s flat animals are amongst the best. One of my favorites is his giraffe form African Animals in Origami.

Hey Chris, get any 3D origami model and then drop a big heavy book on it (Origami Design Secrets will do!). You now have a flat model!lol

I only have to give the models to my little nephew and he will turn it into one of the following models:

1. a boulderlike something
2. a tattered something
3. a flat something
4. a crumpled something
5. Ã¤hm... somthing

he seems to be a real morphing talent, because he doesn't care about the original model, he just turns every model into the model he likes
