I prefer clean diagrams over photographs, video instructions and all other kinds of instructions.

You can get Inkscape here: http://www.inkscape.org/

If you can get your fingers on Freehand I would recommend this program, but I don't know if it is compatible with Vista.

Photodiagrams are not better than line ones. They are not clear, colors and shadows confuse folders. Using of photo is good to show difficult step, as in Kawasaki's books.

Today Hans Dybkjær wrote the following on the O-List and I thought this might be interesting for some of you using Inkscape:

Read the tutorials... They're useful  you can find them in the help menu of Inkscape.

There's also a more in-depth online manual here: http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/index.php
"Chapter 7: Paths" is especially useful for origami diagrams...

Well, Chesslo, you draw them line by line, either with pencil and paper or with a computer program (like for example Inkscape or Freehand).

You don't use the pencil tool :-P

Try using the "Bezier Curve and Straight Line" tool (hotkey: b)

And seriously, READ the tutorials, don't just skim them. It would take you weeks to figure it out otherwise.

Ok, i have fiddled around with it and i think im getting the hang of things, but one thing i don't get is how to do accurate, like drawing a square without making look like a uneven four sided shape :?

and where to get the arrows to show which direction to fold? :?:

thanks in advanced
