Crane feet

Post by Dioniso »

Hi!
I'm trying to make a crane...
I want it with feet, but have some problem to find a good way to fold them.
The legs are like the 2 bottom part of a bird base, offcourse they have to be thinner...
Hope you did understand.
Any Idea?

thanks

bye

that was pretty easy :) took me only 5 Minutes to fold.

maybe I will fold it again with better paper, when I'm at home (right now, I'm at work).

it's easy:

1. begin with a square
2. fold the 4 corners to the center line
3. now make a birdbase with the 4 courners inside
4. pull out the four courners. the model will look like this:

5. reverse fold 4 times

6. reverse fold 8 times

7. fold the wings up, while stretching the little corners

8. form the feet

9. finish the crane

:)

but I have trouble folding them and thinning the legs..
have to find a nice way.

this is the crane half unfolded to show how is the leg before folding it.
On the left, the right leg.

You mean something like this:
This is a crane with feet by my friend Daniel Naranjo. you can find the Cp at http://design.origami.free.fr/bestof/na ... Grulla.htm

Try it it is very easy and the result is worth the effort

Hey Chris or someone that knows:

Is there a name for the base you obtained in step 8?

I've seen it used several times and I have used it myself for some insect and I would like to know the name and original author if possible

to Brimstone: I know that crane, but it doesn't have the feet like I want...
if you look at the pictures I posted you can see how I want the feet, the problem is that it is a trouble to fold, and I had to made them go.

to Rock: what? sorry but my english isn't good enouth to understand.

thank you...

the stretched birdbase includes the collapse at the end (what is basically not a real rabbit ear, I think). the result is a birdbase with a stretched center... a stretched birdbase.
maybe somebody with manners can approve or disprove. oh, btw: those diagrams are from engel's "from angelfish to zen" and even Peter Engel calls it a "stretched birdbase".

Of course it is not a stretched bird base. I wouldn't have asked if it were so

If you like a crane with feet you could also try Vong's Crane.

Diagrams are here on his site.
