Hello Artists!!
Long time I haven't visited here because my Origami group keeps me busy!!
Hojyo Takashi is my best Favourite Author .I think His works does not only require technique to fold but also some knowledge to complete them...
These models I folded are not very good.I need some Advice to modify....
Please feel free to send me the feedback.
This is my First Try on th Icarus
( I used Print paper)
Icarus 1
Icarus 2
Icarus 3
Then I painted it !!

I'm pretty much a purist when it comes to origami. (and many other things)
So my advice would be to get some different paper instead of painting it.
Personally I prefer to fold things from paper with a neutral colour. (gray being my favourite)
This picture of Archangel Gabriël is a pretty good example.

Btw, does anyone recognize this model? I found a site with this one and many other great models before I started doing origami. But now I have no clue what site it was or who made it.

I could have asked that questionIs painting really that much less "pure" than colored paper?
I mean, where is the difference between paper painted by me and paper painted by somebody else?
besides: painting paper doesn't break any purists rules, als long as you colour the whole sheet. painting eyes, hair and clothes would break the purists holy commandments. in my opinion, there's really no difference between buying coloured paper and colouring it myself.

What I meant was that I preferred a model with a neutral colour over a model that is painted in bright yellow. I think the yellow makes it look less like something that Is folded from one sheet of paper and more like a little statue. I just like my paper to look like paper, and painting it gives it a bit of a plastic look imho. (the yellow icarus still looks great though)
btw. Thanks for the reply origami8, I didn't expect that at all
