Help finding paper in the UK

Hi everyone :D

I was wondering if anyone could tell me where to find decent paper in the UK.

I have ordered a few new origami books with some advanced designs and I doubt I will be able to make them using copier paper.

As I am fairly new to origami, I don't know any good sources of paper yet. A search online didn't really help me either as all the papers were too small. What I am looking for is fairly thin paper that is also large. eg. able to make 25x25cm squares.

I searched for this topic on the forum and, although there were several similar threads already, most of these were asked by Americans or Middle Eastern people. While I am happy to order online from another country if I have to, I was hoping someone could suggest a good place to order from if you live in Scotland.

Any help would be great!

Thanks,

From Richard

I know that through OUSA you can order 10" sheets of kami, American foil, and Japanese foil (the one you want  ). I don't see why they wouldn't ship to the UK. Another thing worth checking out is BOS (the British Origami Society). I am unfamiliar with the organization, but it is supposed to be one of the oldest and biggest origami associations. They should have a store that has what you need.

er BOS supplies british origami society more paper than you could burn in a lifetime- there will be a mini meeting near you too- and you can get to borrow books from the library when you are a member.

http://www.britishorigami.info/

And not forgetting the books produced by the BOS themselves. go get membership as a christmas present.

http://www.passionorigami.com sells larger paper in France.

http://www.origamido.com sells very high quality handmade paper in the US.

http://www.kimscrane.com has a variety of paper.

http://www.sasugabooks.com carries some paper.

Plus, many of the local hobby and craft shops should carry packets of origami paper that are better than copy paper. They are relatively inexpensive and medium quality.

But, if you can go to BOS ... that is you best first stop...

Ebay and Amazon for kusudama or simple origami...Search Kraft paper..handmade paper..better searching skills result with more choice...or even tissue paper that is used by all the Youtube folders who can show how to make double tissue or foil backed
.https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/assorted-tissu ... 2308287604
Once you've been folding a year you learn the feel of the paper and what use to put it to...

Since the thread was revived after 10 years, I'll throw in my ₤0.02.

There's a store with fine papers in London, called Shepherds: http://store.bookbinding.co.uk/store/
I visited it last year and bought some formidable papers (at equally formidable prices, unfortunately). They have Satogami in many colors as well as a number of Japanese and other Asian papers. There seems to be more choice of thin than of thick papers, at least of the kind I was looking for. They present you with probably 15 or so ring binders with small samples of papers and once you've made your choice they bring in the full sheets from storage. These are probably not papers for everyday folding but if you're looking for something really nice, I can recommend it.
