Hi everyone!

Happy St. Nicholas Day! At least here in Germany that's what we celebrate on December 6th. :)
It's a tradition here for children to put a boot infront of the door and hope for some small presents. Back when I was younger those were apples, oranges, nuts and such, or even some chocolate - especially a chocolate santa.
So today it's a pleasure for me to share that tradition with you and put a new video in your boot. :)

It being December, I wanted to share something with you that fits the season - and what better model than a modular star, which you can also hang on your tree, your windows, your door, or give away as a small token of appreciation?
Klaus-Dieter designed his star "Hilli" less than a month ago, and taught it to me the the very next day. It's a pleasure for me to teach you how to fold it now! Thank you, Klaus-Dieter, for your creativity and your permission to present this model!

Video on Happyfolding: http://www.happyfolding.com/instruction ... star_hilli
Video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-uycSmI6nk
Picture on Happyfolding: http://www.happyfolding.com/gallery-ennen-star_hilli

I've also added English and German captions to the video, you can activate them in the bottom right corner of the player (a small rectangle that shows two lines in the bottom).

Also check out Klaus-Dieter Ennen's website http://www.origamist.de - which also has diagrams for this fantastic model.
And if you like stars or generally enjoy this model, perhaps Klaus-Dieter Ennen's book on 117 star models is something for you: It's bilingual, in German and English - although the diagrams mostly don't have any text at all. But the introductory texts have been translated, so that you can appreciate the whole book, even without knowing German. :) http://www.happyfolding.com/book-ennen- ... gami_stars
And why not make it a Christmas present - for a fellow enthusiast, a newcomer to origami, or simply yourself? :)

I wish you a wonderful Advent and Christmas time, and of course happy folding,

Hi Sara,
This is not really on topic but, I didn't even know they celebrated St. Nicholas day in germany. And you have it on 6th. I'm from the Netherlands, here we celebrate on the 5th, and I know that in Belgium the have it on the 4th. Funny to see that three countries laying next to each other celebrate the same feast on such a different way.
Thanks for you videos, they really helped me when I just tstarted doing origami!

Seems I forgot to post a couple of my recent videos. Here's a summary:

"Star Doris" by Klaus-Dieter Ennen (single sheet, 12 minutes)
http://www.happyfolding.com/instruction ... star_doris
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0ZYuuswvuM

"Rose of Roses" by Jordi Adell (15 minutes)
http://www.happyfolding.com/instruction ... e_of_roses
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiwKN6dsq78

"Grizzly Bear" (advanced fold!) by Quentin Trollip (1 hour 17 minutes... yeah, I know!)
http://www.happyfolding.com/instruction ... izzly_bear
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OghgRJezrAo

As always, many thanks to the designers for their great work, as well as their permission to make these videos available to you.

Plus, perhaps you're interested: Liliana Badillo interviewed me. Read the article at http://origamiusa.org/thefold/article/i ... ng-origami

Happy folding,

Hi everyone,

Mother's Day is just around the corner (*in most parts of the world), so perhaps you're thinking about how to show your love in an origami-inspired way. Despair not, here's a video that might come in handy!

Francis Ow designed a wonderful heart pendant and wittily called it "Love with Strings Attached". He generously allowed me to make video instructions for it, so here it is for you to enjoy:

Photo: http://www.happyfolding.com/gallery-ow- ... s_attached
Video on happyfolding: http://www.happyfolding.com/instruction ... s_attached
Video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lcMjO_Wzm0

To change things up, this video actually doesn't just show you how to fold the pendant, but also (in the end) demonstrates how to make a sliding knot, which you can use to make a necklace from a simple piece of string. That means you can make a complete necklace with a heart pendant by following along with this video - all you need is a square of paper, some string, and about ten minutes of your time. It's that simple to make a small present to brighten someone's day - be it your mother or anyone else close to you. :)

Best wishes and happy folding,

-- Sara

Ah, that model... actually, I revisited it a couple of times, thinking about a video. But each time I felt like I'd prefer to do a different video first. That model is challenging to get looking really nice. :(

Hi everyone,

here's lots of new content I created - all about "Origami for All" by Ioana Stoian. It's her first origami book and has me looking forward to more from her and Eric. But I won't write much here, as I have three things to share with you related to the book:

1. Book review
I reviewed the book, the article is published in OrigamiUSA's TheFold: http://origamiusa.org/thefold/article/r ... ana-stoian
You can read more about my excitement with this fun little book there!

2. Instructional video: "Bracelet" by Ioana Stoian
My newest origami tutorial shows you how to fold a model from the book "Origami for All". It's Ioana's bracelet - or, if folded from smaller paper - a beautiful ring, too.
Thank you Ioana, for such pleasurable models and your permission to present this one and make it accessible freely for everyone!

Picture (bracelet and ring): http://www.happyfolding.com/gallery-stoian-bracelet
Video on YouTube: http://youtu.be/OkgJs0ZCK5M
Video on happyfolding: http://www.happyfolding.com/instruction ... n-bracelet

3. Giveaway
Don't have the book yet? Go and buy it, then. ;)
Or perhaps be lucky and win it in my giveaway.
I usually don't announce these here, but as I'm posting a message in any case, there's no harm. :)
Check http://www.happyfolding.com/vlog-july_2013_giveaway for details.
(In case you do want to know about these giveaways, your best bet is to subscribe to my channel on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/AdamsSara . The giveaways usually have a deadline that passes within a couple of days or at most a week, and subscriptions help you get aware of content as soon as it's available.)

And finally - do check http://www.origamiforall.com for lots of details about the book. I've also gathered some links on http://www.happyfolding.com/book-stoian-origami_for_all

Best wishes and happy folding,

As to Llopio's Moment of Truth - I'll try to make it work before Felix turns 18. ;)
My current plan is to record it within the next half a year. Keep your fingers crossed!

These two videos complete my mini-series of presenting four of Maria's fantastic models. Again thanks to Maria for her great work and her huge generosity in letting me produce not just one, but four videos on her stars! Do also check out her website http://googorigami.com and her Flickr stream http://www.flickr.com/photos/goorigami/ for plenty of other beautiful models.

3. Santa by Peter Engel
My fold: http://www.happyfolding.com/gallery-engel-santa

Video on Happyfolding: http://www.happyfolding.com/instructions-engel-santa

Thanks to Peter for this totally cute and enjoyable Santa model, which he generously shared with me shortly after he designed it. That generosity extends to all of you, as he gave me permission to show you all how to fold it.

Finally, thanks to everyone out there viewing my videos and supporting my work. These final three videos for the year 2013 also mean I managed to produce and upload five videos in November and December (instead of two) in celebration of your support and me showing appreciation for that. I hope you enjoy the extra videos. Now I'm going to take a nice holiday break - I recorded and edited six videos in November - phew, it was a busy month. :) (The sixth video you ask? January, I say!)

Enjoy and happy holidays!

It is my utmost pleasure to let you know that my newest instructional video shows you how to fold a single strip square curlicue by Assia Brill. Assia's new book "Curlicue: Kinetic Origami" took me by surprise and has totally blown me away.
Check out this video of the model in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxQBznoS_iA
I'm also giving away a copy of the book. The deadline is today, but I'll probably accept entries for an extra day.
And here are more relevant links:

Assia's Flickr album (photos and videos): https://www.facebook.com/Curlicueorigami

I'd like to thank Assia for this fantastic work - a true labor of love, and also for her generosity in letting me present a model from her book. It's opened another aspect of origami to me, and that doesn't happen often. It's been such an enjoyable, fascinating, and simply mind-blowing experience!

I know you generally don't do videos on supercomplex models, but I have always wanted to fold Miyamoto's Grim Reaper, however I'm terrible at working with japanese diagrams.
Be who you are, do things because you want to do them, and stop caring what others think. Then you'll be happy.
