I don't know about the recomended sizes , but visually, the two 35 cm tants scream to me some dinos from origami fantasy. :D

Thanks, good idea. I think dark brown would suit the stegosaurus well. Any ideas for the smaller sheets?

Komatsu's geometric models should work well for the tant. For the terry T-foil, maybe Nguyen Hung Cuong's owl in copper? And Komatsu's cat in the white? I'm not sure if thats big enough, since I usually fold small. For the unryu, Maybe Lang's taranula? I've seen the base made from 35 cm tant, so 30 cm unryu should let you get a finished, albeit small, spider. If you could find a way to make one side white, I bet the lokta could make a nice Giang Dinh penguin.

Also, I just found an awesome shop where I am staying in New York, and I bought some handmade rice papers. I can probably get up to 40-50 cm squares. I can fold small, too. I want to go pretty complex, and some insects would be nice(but don't worry, I'd do a test fold  )

And wow, thats a big post.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll think about it.

As for your papers, what colour/s?

And don't worry, I've seen much larger posts :)

They're all white, but I could also get some signifigantly thicker sheets with nice burgundy/brown colors and leaf patterns.

Now I have a 16" / 40 cm and very nice and flat, white double tissue. What now?

2 sheets of tant, 1 black and 1 dark brown. 35cm
4 sheets of tant, 1 blue, 1 orange, 1 yellow and 1 brown. 15cm
1 Black unryu. 30cm

Any level of difficulty.
Thanks!
I don't know if you have folded Komatsu's lion yet, but the nicholas terry tissue foil works great for that model. here's mine:

Got a slightly modified question: what to fold WITH.

I want to make the T Rex skeleton model (can't remember who by, but it's the one with 20+ pieces of paper), I have 35x35 grey tant that I'm willing to cut up, black tissue, white tissue (GUESSING I'll end up with dark grey if I try and do double tissue), bunch of Kraft, 1 each of various colour of Nicolas Terry foil 60cm, bunch of 15x15 tant, again one each of various colours, some 27x27cm grimoire foil (again from TN shop) that I can cut up.

I'm leaning towards the double tissue, but have a feeling it'll never be able to stand up to its own weight.

the t.rex is by issei yosshino. most who have folded it seem to agree that if you fold it with squares greater than 15 cm it will start to collapse under its own weight. probably this issue is alleviated by strengthening whatever support you decide to use. 15 cm japanese foil works very well.

I just got 20" Kraft, black on one side white on the other, 4' Kraft, red, 8" Lokta, dark brown, and 15" American Foil, silver.

In Yoshino's t-rex skeleton book he recommends wet folding with washi. I like using dry 6-inch medium-weight paper that's the same color on both sides (printer paper will do it!) Glue and wires are OK so don't let collapse-on-its-own-weight stop you. You can mount it if you need to.

3-inch notepad cube sheets work too!
