Submitting for Origami Tanteidan Convention Book?
Is it possible for anyone, or is it by invite only? I don't know Japanese, and google translate is most likely going to mistranslate things, so ill end up sounding like a complete a$$hole, which i definitely don't wanna do!! So is it possible, or are there some different kinds of stipulations?

I feel like there used to be a thread about this. You might try searching...or you can just wait around...I know several people in here have been published in it...Quentin Trollip, Ares Alanya, Jason Ku...they all check in here from time to time.

Re: Submitting for Origami Tanteidan Convention Book?
i managed to contact the people, and they said that I can send in diagrams. i really wanna send them as "professional" diagrams, not just and-drawn. any volunteers/suggestions?
Re: Submitting for Origami Tanteidan Convention Book?
I just sent my diagrams
They can accept pdf and adobe illustrator files...
They also have restrictions in page size and printed area/column....
I suggest you e-mail them. I got a very quick reply with their conditions...
now fingers crossed I get published.. the diagrams should be good enough since they have been extensively tested
maybe I will send in another diagram, but that may slim down my chances...

Re: Submitting for Origami Tanteidan Convention Book?
Would you mind diagramming my model so I can send it in? I don't have a program that I can use to make good diagrams, and with how sucky this laptop im using is, I can't install new programs >.< I asked them, and they don't want hand-drawn diagrams, but computer made ones.
Re: Submitting for Origami Tanteidan Convention Book?
as merman will attest to you, i think one essential thing if you're going to submit to tanteidan is to have a thick skin and don't take rejection too seriously. there is definitely some kind of randomness to the acceptance process. i personally don't think there's any bias, but the first half of the book usually features nationals, and the latter international contributors. certain international contributors have been seen with more frequency in the last few books, IMHO. be aware that, apparently, a significant part of their decision making has to do with their page limit, which is absolute: for instance, say they have 100 pages total, and have filled 97 with diagrams. if your diagrams happen to be 4 pages, it definitely won't be selected. i may be incorrect.

in my last email, they said that technically, the cutoff for submission was by June 15th. Oh well, i guess. we can all work toward next year!!
Re: Submitting for Origami Tanteidan Convention Book?
Then I guess I was lucky. I sent in my diagrams on June 14th...

lucky. oh well, I have till around march when they typically start collecting diagrams. one thing they said about my diagrams was, those who diagrammed included some of the pics I sent with the hand-drawn diagrams, and they wanted diagrams that had no bitmap images. Thing is, i forget the users who diagrammed for me, cuz they used their real name.

Re: Submitting for Origami Tanteidan Convention Book?
I know Adobe Illustrator and Freehand are the preferred diagramming programs for the Origami Tanteidan Convention Book, but is Inkscape also suitable? If so, is there a template available for Inkscape?
