DiscoDucky: you seem to be upsetting people on this forum. Either abide by our code of conduct, respect other members or go somewhere else. It is not your place to "out" people here or anywhere.

awright! i'm in the minority of straight women. i've never gotten to be in the minority before - i like it.

i'm the only one i know (friends, family, work colleagues) who does origami. it's not terribly popular in my section of Canada, apparently.

i keep little origami pieces around my desk at work, so when somebody's kids come to the office, I can hand them out. who knows, it might inspire somebody!

i folded a little dragon once and gave it to a five year old. his mom brought him back months later (with the grimy, bedraggled, much loved toy still in his fist) to say thank you a second time.

this is the best hobby sometimes.

Stereotypes ruin every good thing. The moment I really got into origami I heard the stereotype. I'm straight, but people calling me homosexual because I can fold a piece of paper better than them makes you sort of want to quit. But I'm not quitting.

I'm a straight male, but if people give you a hard time for folding paper, try folding nothing but flowers and plants (which is what I do) . No one has actually made fun of me for it... I think it must be a miracle.

I've never heard that stereotype before.
After reading the author's post I had to LOL at the results of the poll. I was more than a little surprised that there were so many straight men.

Gay origamists

First of all, sexual orientation is a private choice, and as such , should not be subject to the adolescent, immature musings of the community.

Secondly, is this discussion really appropriate, or even relevant to an origami forum ?

Lastly, one may keep in mind, that printed defamation may be considered " libel", and possibly actionable.

For sociopathic types, this means that you are subject to being held responsible for frivolous insult or damage to an individual's reputation/sense of well being .
I would hope that , given that origami requires at least a modicum of intelligence, the members of this forum try to rise above the temptation of pettiness .
Finally, we can all agree or disagree without resorting to lowly, unflattering, or mean-spirited behavior.
May I wish success to all who cope with the mountains & valleys of Life,
with all its peaks & depths, as well as Origami .
