Off the topic so please forgive me.
I just wanted to add a note of warning about the wikipedia site. It can be edited by anyone at any time!
That being said, this book looks very interesting :)

Yeah, but if you want, you can restrict edits.

I haven't seen that written on the site.
But let's say that even if it is true, there is still the fact that Wikipedia contains about 2.3 million articles.
Obviously the moderators do not check majority edits or even have the personal knowledge to evaluate every minute fact. They leave it to us to do it.

I splitted the entries to the right section.

I know, what you mean, but honestly, I see the same authenticity problem with most webpages. I mean, everybody can open up a page and tell the world their truth. at least the moderators of wikipedia are no street cleaners, if you understand, what I mean.

over all, you should challange everything you hear or read :)

I like Wikipedia alot and I use it often.
But, I did not know until recently that unlike most sites, this one will let anyone anytime edit the page to say anything they want.

I understand it is moderated and so forth, but not everything can be caught as soon as it is done.

Therefore, it remains more of a "fun" info site rather than a legitimate reference site. I would not recommend going here for facts.

I just made an edit on this page, if someone looked at it before it is changed (lets time it) they will get false info.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleipnir

I changed only "Sleipnir is Odin's magical eight-legged steed" to "Sleipnir is Odin's magical six-legged steed" to keep it simple.

And, just to bounce back to the original topic for a moment, I mentioned before that Kamiya's original Sleipnir was based on a video game version of Sleipnir. Because the game designers chose to make it with 6 legs instead of with 8 legs, that first origami Sleipnir also had 6 legs.

I think it is a very bad idea to change a fact willfully only to test out if their are people correcting them. So wikipedia becomes really a bad source. By the way no encyclopedia is always right, everywhere are mistakes to find. On wikipedia you have the chance to correct them, so it is a great source to collect knowledge. You could also edit the entry by adding useful information to it. For example you could link to a picture of the origami-version of the Sleipnir and tell that this kind of horse (but only with six legs) was also used as a charakter in a video game.

It still says six . If you think it is such a bad idea, then wouldn't it be more helpful to change it back? Instead of just telling us how bad the idea was.

The entire point is that wiki is a bad source, when searching for correct data.
