Looking at porn does not necessarily mean that you are perverted - you guys are so immature when it comes to such things as sex; the way you address it make you sound like you have not passed yr 5 (when Australians get their sex education - for those who don't live here). This is like the time we were talking about pornogami - resulting in you all getting into trouble with admin. And by the way, "gory stuff" is nothing to be ashamed about - no one is ashamed about playing COD with extra blood and swearing , because if they were they would turn it off. By the way - you could put your photos up so we can actually see them - flickr has glitched, and they are unavailable for viewing.

4 years ago I only drew stick figures (I suck at drawing people) now I can draw good anime this is what I did:

1.) Watch some anime
2.) Draw your favorite character (trace it at first)
3.) Do 1 and 2 repeatedly and find some similarities
4.) Find some tutorials if you still can't do some parts (like me, I still can't draw hands)
5.) Do more practice

That's it, although I suggest drawing chibis (the ones with heads that has the same size as their body) at first since it's easier and their soooo cute! ^_^ people get amazed easily.

About the porn thing, only perverts get obsessed with those even if I actually drew one (I did drew naked people but not in a pervy way) it's just a trend since Japan made erotic paintings since ancient times (I'm serious), I usually made the mistake of having a boy that looks like a girl and a girl that looks like a boy, after watching a lot of anime I can't see the difference anymore xD it's a very common mistake

No problem ^_^ ohh and one more thing, try to get some advice from other people who draw anime too which will help in your progress faster(which is very easy in my case because art club from school is full of them) you'll get your own unique anime drawing style in the process (the one that is comfortable for your hand), just don't copy them too much

i drew anime (well, manga really) a LOT when I first started out trying to teach myself to draw. i loved the style and it was fun to try and draw my favorite characters. i even drew a lot of pokemon.

I don't really recommend tracing though (sorry, DragonFold!), even at the start. it's always better to figure out what's wrong with what you drew compared to what you're trying to copy and then spending time fixing it or drawing a new copy. tracing doesn't really teach you that much, except that it's very easy to solve a problem without the figuring out stage.

i think this is the only piece of anime/manga i've got online still. according to the date on it, i drew it 11 years ago. o.O

In a serious though, the book will be out in 5 months (just in time for christmas!), And my hand drawn diagrams do have cartoon people observing those incromprehensible steps, funny quips on text diagrams, and the list goes on...

Most book stores have some books about drawing and if you look in several then at least one should have on about manga. If not then I recomend just buying an ordinary one, the basics are the same for western and eastern drawings.

And on the debate on hentai and porn and stuff, it's all art.
I mean, if someone can have a wank to Da Vinci's paintings, does that make his work less impressive?
If someone folds the ryu jin and faps to it, it's stil art right?

I dont know who a person who would find the ryujin sexually appealing, but thanks for the back up there.
