Kabutomushi

Designed and folded by me
one uncut square of Agua Paper ( 31x31 cm )
Boxpleat 32x32 grid
This is the first asymmetric beetle I designed. It has a really interesting structure.
I made a lot of testfolds ( 4 x folding the whole model ) before folding this one. The collapsing process is really interesting. I´m really happy that I was able to get ( almost ) all the details I wanted it to have, especially the eyes :D
I will publish the CP soon.

Acanthostega gunnari, one of the earliest known 4-legged animals, dating back to the late Devonian period. It's a transitional form between aquatic and terrestrial vertebrates.

It had a whopping 8 digits on each limb, which for the design meant using complex "level shifters" and a whole lot of repetition. Folded from 1 uncut square.
