nice. I like it, it looks simple, but it still has a nice outcome (as do a lot of simple designs)

I love the monkey, I think it has the perfect balance of abstraction and accuracy.

The other day I folded a new koi:

I placed torn tissue paper on kozo and then MC'd the heck out of it, to get a sort of chigiri-e effect (inspired by Michael LaFosse's Koi, but with the coloring added before folding rather than after). The MC did a perfect job of keeping the spots from delaminating and made the kozo stiff enough to hold the pleats. You can also see that I took inspiration from Won Park's dollar koi, though my design is from a square.

I also folded an orchid and a pair of generic five-petaled flowers for my tournament duel with Baltorigamist, but I'll just link to the pictures here so as not to be too obnoxious. Remember to vote though! Even if it's not for me! And vote in all the other threads!

I've tried to make some changes to the rhino I posted earlier, but it's hard. I'm new to designing my own models, this rhino was actually my second decent model. I tried to make the flap that makes the head smaller, but then all precreases did't align. So I've no clue how to get it better. It still has no belly, the back gets higher instead. And the hindlegs get to long.

I did managed to make another model from the same base. Using some flaps that form the big horn to produce a wolfs head. here it is:

Make sure when you post that under the smilies it says "BBCode is ON" and that you do not have the "disable BBCode" box checked. If there's still a problem, I guess you've just displeased the forum gods.

I'll try that, thanks. But I posted almost the same post in my own gallery, and there the pictures did show up.

...... I guess I'll have to make an offering to the forum gods..........

Now that I think of it... I think I always check that box because I thought I had to in order for the pictures to show. (enable/ disable, english is not my native langauge)

It's my day off, and I've been folding the same base for 5 hours now. Actually made a bear using this base.
Maybe I can squirm another animal from the base later.
For now enjoy,

Froy - Excellent!! One of the best I've ever seen. And awesome photography as well. Makes me want to try myself... well, one day. What kind of paper did you use, and what size?

I bought the paper from Richard Alexander and Michael Lafosse when I went to see an exhibition of theirs (I live closeby) - it was already double-sided. It wasn't cheap ($20 I think for the whole large sheet, although I cut some smaller squares out of it too), and I could have saved $4 if I had bought 2 separate sheets and glued them together myself. I figured that black-and-white dual sided paper is one of those color combinations that there are a million uses for.

Also, amazing Ryu Zin, Froy! I'd also be interested in learning what paper/size you used (is it kraft paper? seems like that's what most people use to fold it).

I would be interested to know what paper it is too, that is a really nice fold, also. One of the best I have seen.
