Star Tube by Shuzo Fujimoto from two A4 sheets and one 30cm square of Elephant Hide Paper. I've tried out various ways to form the last star, the one on the left looks like the one in the book:




3° Parallel Magic Ball by Robin Scholz and Ray Schamp. A model with various possibilities folded from a 15x30cm rectangle of Elephant Hide Paper. The model locks together very strong without glue:

In what book is the "Star Tube" found?

The diagrams are in this book, that unfortunately is out of print. In the German Origami Forum someone pointed out that there might be a similar model in Fujimoto's new book, but I couldn't find any evidence for this. The model is rather easy to fold. If you start with an A4 paper you divide the small side into 16th first and then make a triangular grid, if you start with a square you start with a triangular grid based on 24th. With just a bit of calculating it would be possible to make an arbitrarily long row of stars depending on the size of the rectangle you start with.

I was required to supervise an exam, 2 sessions in a row is unusually boring and happened to have an A4 sheet with me, so began to doodle.



At first I made a hand with lovely long fingers, then the idea struck me that it could belong to something much less dead that it should be. I attached it to an arm, then attached it to the ground, raised a gravestone with some strategic box-pleating and we have my first foray into the world of paper Zombies.

I will get around to photodiagramming it when I can convince myself that I can fold it again - happy with the result however - lovely expressive skeletal hand and a 3D gravestone that is self-standing
