Nice job on the Bahamut I like the colors.

I tried to fold Satoshi Kamiya's Ancient Dragon from a 6 inch (15.24cm) piece of matte foil origami paper.

The model is standing on a US quarter.

I´ve done the same (with 15cm japanese foil) some days ago, but skipped a lot of steps, since the paper was so small that I couldn´t (or wasn´t willing) to perform them:

And a little multipiece girl I folded last night (I folded the head first and thought she would need a body too):

Anna's girl

Post by Ondrej.Cibulka »

Hello Anna, your little girl is very nice, I like it. I like simple model much more than complex (as ancient dragon). What do you mean, can you send to us some basic ideas how to fold it (or whole diagram)?

Hm, for the head a diagram should be possible, since it is only a waterbomb base with all four flaps double rabbit eared, then the little triangles tucked inside. The flaps have to be arranged that way, that the middle flap is free on one side and the four surrounding flaps on the other (two on the left, two on the right). Now the middle flap is folded over to the other flaps , crimped once and folded in half lengthwise. That´s all, now shape the head to your taste.
The good thing is, that you have a handle to put the head inside a body, so you only have to make sure that the body has a hole on the top to stick the throat in.
For the body I can only tell you that I made it out of two waterbomb bases, but I don´t remember exactly how it was. You have to experiment on your own, but it shouldn´t be that hard.

I took a break from origami. It lasted about 6 months, probably. Today I decided to get back to folding. I made a vase that my art teacher taught me in 5th grade. It is made from a waterbomb base. I've never seen diagrams / picures of it in the internet nor in books. I almost forgot how to make it until I looked in a box I have full of models and I found it there. Although it's unlikely, I wonder wether I'm the only person who knows of this model. n.n

Well, there are several vases based on Waterbombs with diagrams available on the Internet:

Hans Birkeland's Design Vase
Peterpaul Forcher's Vase
Kalei Anne Lundberg's Weighted Vase

I don't know if your vase is one of those, but if you post a picture of the vase someone might be able to tell you who designed it :-)
So long and keep folding ^_^
