What a lovely failure! All because I didn't want to exceed the grid size :P
Still, learnt a lot.

Origami : Ship In A Bottle V2!

Image
Designed and folded by me from a single uncut 22 cm square sheet of Cellophane sheet XD
Final Size: 9.5 cm x 4.5 cm
(CP on my flickr and fb page)
I am very pleased with the result. The sails were really difficult to fold...they keep touching each other. The ship was much easy to fold and design ( Heavy inspiration from Patricia Crawford's design ), but the bottle was really tough.
The pleats on the bottom give the effect of water, and those on the top - though troublesome - give the effect of reflection? Like a glass bottle? I couldn't figure out how to shape it better.

Still not a perfect design, but for the most part it works I think! It also means I'll finally be able to fold a lot of models requiring transparency.

Everyone on board? XD Hope you guys like it.

King of the Dance

Designed and folded by me from a single uncut square sheet of tracing paper
Paper size : 75cm x 75cm
Model size : 23 cm
80x80 BP

Here is Shiva, with 4 hands, standing on Apasmara (dwarf who represents Spiritual ignorance), with the ring of fire behind, telling his worshippers to be unafraid amidst the cosmic cycle of birth and death, creation and destruction...
And Here's THE Aldous Huxley explaining the iconic image much better than I ever could - https://youtu.be/32oo0oyLUdE

Some details could've been shaped better - the snake, Apasmara's hands, and the Ring of fire ( my sincere apologies to all Shiva worshippers). Surprisingly, the most difficult part of this model was the Ring of Fire!
Hope you all like it :)

ORIGAMI - CHESS QUEEN ♕

"In chess the most unbelievable thing for me is that it's a game for everybody: rich, poor, girl, boy, old, young. It's a fantastic game which can unite people and generations! It's a language which you'll find people "speak" in every country." - GM Judith Polgar (Real Queen of Chess)

Designed and folded by me from a single uncut square sheet of bicolored tracing paper
Paper size : 75cm x 75cm
Model size : 20cm x 15 cm
64x64 Grids Boxpleated

PHOTODIAGRAMS GUIDE

My attempt at color change! I had long wanted to fold something related to chess, finally came up with this anthropomorphised chess set :) Very pleased with the result, as I was able to combine 2 of my fav. hobbies!
(The wooden chess set is special to me, a gift from my father, who taught me this wonderful game.)

Since it might not be so clear to recognise all the elements here:-
1. 64 Grids BP: because 64 squares on a chess board
2. Queen on the Throne: because strongest piece
3. 2 knights/horses, 2 Bishops
4. 2 Rooks: Depicted as brick-sided throne.
5. 8 Pawns as Crown Spikes

Scope for improvement - color change on 4 pawns (too small to notice so I skipped), color change on Rook (had no clue on how to do it), King Symbol being a simple Origami Crane (but may have become unrecognisable as King symbol)

I'd designed this model 2 years ago, but couldn't finish it then. Now, the World Chess Championship is in November, and it could be a big one for GM Gukesh!
Hope you all like it :)
