Growing sprout by The Plant Psychologist, on Flickr
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAlkHi7 ... e=youtu.be
When you look at a plant it's hard to tell it's growing or moving at all, but when you look away and come back, it's rising up before you even know it.
You can watch the beginning or the end of the youtube tutorial linked there to see how it works (and you might as well fold it while you're there)

Re: Designs by NeverCeaseToCrease :D
There is a video tutorial for this model here: https://youtu.be/NWlvNuXQufo
Someone suggested I make an origami version of Bob Ross, I think it turned out ok but was kinda weird.
I finally tried a 22.5 model, works pretty well.

Re: Designs by NeverCeaseToCrease :D
I only watched the first couple of minutes since I won't be folding it, but kudos NeverCeaseToCrease! The video looks so creative and thought out. It did make me think immediately about Bob Ross , but it seems to me that he got a lot older than what I remember .
We also had his show here in Colombia, but there was a voice-over also very calm and they didn't remove his own voice. They just lowered the volume; so you usually heard two voices talking at the same time. I'd say that was very distinctive of his videos .
PS: I heard very good things about the Discord group... hallway talk.

A bunch of random stuff:

You might have also noticed that I started using orihime to draw my crease patterns. Lemme just tell you: it's way better than oripa, and it's worth getting used to despite it being really confusing to use at first. To help people get started, I made a brief tutorial of the orihime basics: https://youtu.be/vAPqIVRVylc
and then another video with the more advanced/less often used tools: https://youtu.be/E6a4Kio2K7w

Nice videos NeverCeaseToCrease, I learnt a few things. I sent you an email through the forum so if you want to discuss Orihime more in detail, please drop me a line.

Thanks Brimstone, I replied to your email.
You may or may not remember the stone golem I designed about three years ago. Recently, I came back to it with the ability to make tissue foil as well as some much needed design changes (and the ability to easily draw complicated crease patterns using orihime). The result is very satisfying and almost a whole new model.

Also, you might have noticed that I am doing indoor studio photos after taking outdoor bokeh-style photos for so long. I've found a really easy way to do it; lmk if anyone is interested in the setup.

You are getting better and better. There are some really good designs emerging. Thanks for sharing!
I also had a short look at your Bob Ross Style tutorial, seems like fun, and I like the bird.

I so agree with origami_8! Love the face... I can perfectly picture Stone Golem in an epic PG movie . Know what I mean?

Re: Designs by NeverCeaseToCrease :D
Here's an odd one: the monthly challenge on the discord is "action models" this month, so here's mine: "Giraffe Evolution." The mechanism is pretty similar to my growing plant from a while back.
Apparently flickr can upload videos, but can't be embedded here so you have to click the link to watch it in action: https://flic.kr/p/2jkhV4C

Re: Designs by NeverCeaseToCrease :D
Again, I'm going back to old designs and having a blast. Things turn out much better on the second try. This is the martial artist (v2 i guess), which last time had a really lame pose and was white and orange.

I included 2 cp because one is easy to fold, and the other is a more detailed version that shows you how to shape once you collapsed the base version.

Re: Designs by NeverCeaseToCrease :D
For about a week and a half, I spent a lot of time learning how to design 2d models. At the end, I challenged myself to design the japanese words for ryujin: 龍神

I also designed a lot of other random stuff

There are a bunch more, and their crease patterns, on my flickr

Re: Designs by NeverCeaseToCrease :D
They look extremely clever NeverCeaseToCrease ! I wish I found them as attractive as they are clever . I think it's all the layers, but I'm just one critic. Why the triangle under the word "origami"? I'm curious .

Re: Designs by NeverCeaseToCrease :D
Thanks! it was just extra paper, and doing it in a triangle like that was the best way to distribute the thickness. Color change (in this method at least) only really cares about the edge, so what ends up happening is that the more complex the figure is, the more paper is wasted in the center.
And yeah, it's not super aesthetic and probably not that efficient either compared to other 2d color change methods, but this one excels in the fact that it can make figures much more complex than the other ways.

Re: Designs by NeverCeaseToCrease :D
I designed a chunk of forest (with a color changed path going down the middle) for the monthly challenge on the discord (theme: forest/jungle). I'm pretty sure this was a personal record for most complex design so far, with a 64 grid and partial 128 for the leaves and also the largest sheet of double tissue i've made so far.
