MiPo's Designs

Post by Mihir Potnis »

Hello everyone!
I am Mihir Potnis. I am folding from 2011, and it was in 2013,that i developed serious interest for origami.
Untill now i was just replicating models designed by Tomohiro Tachi, Satoshi Kamiya, Robert Lang and many others.
But, on 14th May i had my first brainwave. While doing some random folds, i realised that i had designed a model!!!
MY VERY FIRST DESIGN!!
And i have decided to share it with you all...

Little Star-

The digrams are not neat as i have drawn them in under 10 minutes. I know you wouldn't, but still, if you have any problem while folding it don't hesitate to contact me.

I am working on the digrams of my next design 'The Lotus'. Will post them in few days

Congratulations on your first design and welcome on board!
Even if they are just fast sketches it is highly appreciated that you took the time and drew diagrams to share. :)

Smoking-

This model is inspired from my all time favourite character, Sherlock Hlomes. Before I had folded Pipe by Ted Mcgrath. But I used to find that model incomplete, something was missing! Then one fine day, out of the blue I realised that Ted's Pipe needs somke! So,that's what I did...

Really like your models Mihir Potnis :D. They're so simple and aesthetic! Lotus Tessellation is very attractive.

So Smoking is a variation of Mr. McGrath's model. Did I understand that correctly?

Thank you for appreciating my humble efforts Gerardo!
Yes, you are correct. Actually want to design models using the classical technique, but for that I first to learn the mathematics behind it, and unfortunately, I am not able to dedicate any time to it. So currently I am making variations of the models that I understand and have folded many times.

If you fold an of the models,do post their photos here!

I really like your lotus, the way it is stylised makes it look halfway between the original flower and some mysterious ancient temple. When I get better, I'll try folding this model myself!

Squares-

This model is recursive just like Fugimoto's Hydrangea.

Crease Pattern-

Note-The above crease pattern is of the model seen in the first image.Continue doing the spread sink folds after this stage to create more layers.

That model you call "Squares" is a nice one. It has been independently discovered by Jean_Baptiste Vincent http://www.flickr.com/photos/0nce/4979369878/ Ilan Garibi http://www.flickr.com/photos/garibiilan ... otostream/ and Paula Versnick https://www.flickr.com/photos/orihouse/2405915514/
