That is the only instance of hex-pleating that I have seen as well. I managed to figure out some techniques with it because it is essentially a cross between 22.5 degree angle structures and box-pleating (fitting on a grid). I could perhaps put together a small guide to it if you would like.
Also, if my CP (or Lang's, for that matter) is confusing, it may be because the are both very complicated (Lang's more so than mine). A simpler CP might be easier to conceptualize.

That would be good. Although, it would be pointless for me because I don't know how to design via box pleating. Maybe after I get ODS.
