I designed an elephant (photo)

Post by lotsofsnails »

I've never done an Elephant before, I'm quite pleased with it even though the body proportions are wrong :P

The head looks quite good, in my opinion. The only problem is that, as you said, the proportions are completely wrong. It seems to have a gigantic butt and its belly is gone.
If you figure out how to fix the body proportions then this will be a fine elephant.

Have you got a CP of it, or were you simply doodling around when you made it?

thanks for the feedback. I don't think there's a way of making the proportions more realistic, but I guess not everything in origami has to be completely accurate. All my models are made from just folding randomly until something appears. This one is made from a sort-of blintzed bird base, but with 30° angles.

Hi! It's been a long while since I've been active on here. I deleted my Dropbox years ago, so some things, like my Dragonfly Varileg guide, are lost to time. I may still have other things, though! Email me if you have any questions.

Well, to solve the butt-issue you could maybe use crimp folds, so that it doesnt stick out that much. And if you then shorten the legs a bit then I think It might look a bit better. It'll probably have a relatively large head then, though, but I'm not sure.

Oh, and congratulations with designing your first elephant :)

WOW!
That's a great refold of your previous elephant!
If you remember how to fold it, you could probably enter it for origami_8's yearly Christmas Origami Book!
Just go here for information :D
Keep on trying, it will work.
