Legionzilla

Post by legionzilla »

[originally: Gallery of Legionzilla]

Hi! I know, most people start their gallery at their first post, and this is like my 60th post. I am a newbie to origami, only starting 3 years ago when I was 10 years old, meaning I'm coming 13 now.
Most of my inventions are rather simplistic representations of the actual thing, I will post my designs, by (I hope), chronological order.
I know they are really crap, so post all the criticisms as you want, don't worry, I can take them :D .

Crab 2.5

Spinosaurus
Inventor: Legionzilla
Invented: February 2008
Updated: February 2008
Folded: December 2008
Details: I have invented a whole lot of spinosaurs, however, most are from different bases, so this is the first of this base I have used. Though all the spinosaurs follow a near identical base, this is my fave.

Those are nice designs.
I wish I had such skill at designing at your age.
I started folding when I was about 7, but it wasn't until university that I really started designing my own models.

I really like the baby dinosaur. Nice use of colour change.

Interesting to hear about all your different Spinosaurus versions. I recently went through a similar phase with Dimetrodons.

I'm having trouble identifying the shape of your crab. Do you have any more photos of it from other angles?

You should put a link to your Flickr in your signature so that people can friend you there. I try to friend everyone I see who does origami.

Thanks! spiritofcat, your designs are nice too!
The crab's structure was similar to that of a waterbomb base. However, due to the thickness, springiness and minute size of the paper prevented me from shaping the crab, thus its upright position.
I would also try and get the flickr link on. But how exactly do you do it? I can't find the signature area, much less make a link.

Wow, that Centaurian Dragon sure does have a lot of flaps. Well done.

Flower Bomb... or X-Wing?
It looks cool whatever it is.

Your Flickr link doesn't seem to work. I get Page Not Found when I try to visit it.

You should come hang out in the origami chatroom. It's not always very busy, but sometimes we have good conversations.
There's a topic about it here: viewtopic.php?t=87

Thanks for your comments. X-wing? Never thought of it that way. I always wanted to invent an anatomically x-wing, mostly ending in failures, due to the inaccuracies in the wings and lack of detail.

Looks like you got your flickr link correct now.
If you want, there's an option in the "Your Account" page on Flickr that lets you set a permanent account name for use in your link instead of the numbers and symbols thing you get by default.

I've tried designing X-Wings before too, but also had trouble.
The Flower Bomb has the right number and orientation of flaps at least, though I think you'd have to keep the detail level pretty low.

Yep. It is rather undetailed, after all, it is meant to be a simple yet funny piece. I have yet to update my more recent pieces (I went for a mythological creature folding spree this year) Therefore, few are fit to be posted.

Mushroomoid Creature
Invented: January 2009
Folded: January 2009
Description: As I flipped through Robert J Lang's 'Origami Sea life', I learnt a pretty few techniques. However, I did one of the techniques wrongly, and that's how I got the toes. This is a creature often seen in the old rpgs, everyone having a different interpretation, mine is a one with 3 horns, a spiky nose and wings.

legionzilla, you should find some better paper. no offence, but your current kind really doesn't do your designs much good. A good place to order some nice paper is here.
