K-5 Galaxy Stewart K5/12Q5S5(E5) Cupola Drilled Truncated Icosidodecahedron
A work in progress of my K-5 Galaxy Stewart - Cupola Drilled Truncated Icosidodecahedron
https://www.flickr.com/photos/origami_t ... 491764115/
I have attached 3 of the Pentagonal cupolas and joined them by 1 hexagon unit. & 3 square flat units.
You can see here where the gold prism squares surround hexagon between the the drilled decagons.
The hexagon unit shown here is not yet permanently attached . I wanted to give a visual on how the exterior shell will look.
The hexagon unit is what I based the color theme of the model from. I like the gold embellishments so i chose gold flake paper (the gold squares of the pentagonal cupolas)
It is structurally the same exact shape as this :
Rotunda Drilled Truncated Icosidodecahedron-Complete by Origami Tatsujin 折り紙, on Flickr
The difference is the way the decagonal holes are drilled

Re:
Nice Work, Combining Kasahars Pinwheel with Tomoko FUse's connections units. I have seen similar models like this in Fuse's Books...I have yet to attempt this type of modular.
My friend & I often combine units from both Kasahara & Fuse and we come up with some cool modulars:

Re: What have you folded lately?
Very cool Flickr gallery Addie.
I've been working on a modular project as well. I thought that nobody on this forum likes modular origami, so I wasn't going to say anything!
I'm folding a lesser stellated dodecahedron from Meenakshi Mukerji's super simple isosceles triangle unit.

I'm folding a lesser stellated dodecahedron from Meenakshi Mukerji's super simple isosceles triangle unit.
I prefer modulars and try to break out of the standard trend where everyone folding "modulars" makes icosahedron "kusudamas with a version of sonobe units with beads & hanging ornamentals..
there is unlimited potential with these units models..
I look foward to seeing your lesser stellated dodecahedron. I have used Mukerji's Sonobe variations in some projects....
if you can fold sonobe units or open frame units you can build an endless gallery...
i draw inspiration and ideas from geomag http://geomag.wikia.com/ , mathworld , Tomoko Fuse, Kunihiko Kasahara..
