@sr123ification: You're placing your camera to near to the subject you want to photograph, leading to unsharp models and sharp background. Go further away. Look if your camera has a macro mode (most often marked by a flower), if yes, use it. You can always cut out the important part afterwards with a picture software like for example Irfanview, but sharpening an unsharp photo afterwards doesn't really work out. Furthermore you often have a very distracting background (at least for the camera). Try to avoid this by placing a big sheet of paper in a slightly L-shaped curve below and behind the model creating an all even background that doesn't distract from the model. You should also make sure to have enough light but as far as I have seen that is your smallest concern. Read this topic to get some more tips: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=10415
