Doodling is certainly a good start - I'd say that most of your folds would benefit if you tried to fold cleaner. This is not only a matter of precision, but also of dexterity in general. Try to come up with ways that hide the layers of paper that need not be seen in thin points, for example.

ODS is a marvelous book, but it will not show you how to be a better folder, right now I'd argue you're not short of ideas, there is no urgency to get the book, but you should try to fold with more patience.

I have no idea whether any of this makes sense to you, just believe me that it's meant kindly. :)

yes I am trying my best to make cleaner folds... for example when I first started my paper cairn looked like I used an offset bird base it was Honorable :D now I am a bit better I think.

I think the scorpion is upside down. You'll have to bend the tail the other way. Not sure, ask cowburger. this is from CP isn't it?

Well, I think you kind of folded it in half :B I don't see a body. Nevermind that, still a good fold!

I designed the Ribbon Tailed Astaria :D my second attempted :D

stats
1. the body is half the size as the tail
2. there is a colour change
3. there are feet and wings and a head with a beak
4. this is my first box plated model besides the first attempt
