ODT 4 Round 1 chesscuber vs greencube
Well here we go,
1) Buildings- Towers, castles anything architectural.
2) Nocturnal Animals, pretty self explanatory.
3) Tesselation Grafts- Incorporate a tessellation into your model.
Rules-
1 sheet of paper, no cuts no glue. Any shape and size of sheet is allowed.
MC is ofcourse allowed.
Good Luck!
The round officially starts when you reply. From then you have 3 weeks to get a design in.

I'll choose topic#2 Nocturnal Animals.
Insects are somehow 'Animals', so..is it ok to fold it in this challenge?(Probably not folding it for the challenge, but just in case )
Anyway, Good Luck!

I suggest that the subject exclude insects, arachnids, and other such organisms that are similar to them in physiology.

Re: ODT 4 Round 1 chesscuber vs greencube
I really can't understand why you guys are banning the insects(containing arachnids),birds to be folded in this duel.
Animal contains insect(+arachnid) and bird(<-look up on a dictionary if I'm wrong), and birds like owl or arachnids like spider and scorpion are well-known as 'Nocturnal Animals'. I'm not planning to fold it at least for now, but I want to know why you guys are banning it.
I haven't folded a single building, tesselation design in my whole life, so I chose 'Nocturnal Animals', but still I haven't folded 'nocturnal' animals too. Having a disadvantage of topic, if you are banning this animals and reduce the range of 'what to fold', you're giving too much disadvantages on me..

Re: ODT 4 Round 1 chesscuber vs greencube
I think it would be fair to greencube07 if you allow notably nocturnal insects and birds. i.e. wolf spider or owl. Something that when people think of it, they think "night".
Re: ODT 4 Round 1 chesscuber vs greencube
the topic was just "nocturnal animals", so i would think of birds, fish and insects, too. otherwise you should give nocturnal mammals as the way to follow ...
if you're going to visit my little flickr_gallery, please leave a comment - a critical one is welcome, too, if necessary: http://www.flickr.com/photos/57625237@N02/
Re: ODT 4 Round 1 chesscuber vs greencube
I was thinking just excluding insects and arachnids, not birds or other animals :/. Birds should be included in the challenge. It's just that with most insects I don't generally see them as purely nocturnal. There are some exemptions, but many that are active during the night can be just as active during the day (e.g. many beetles do this)

Re: ODT 4 Round 1 chesscuber vs greencube
Ok Guys, here is my defense. The field of insects is a field of its own. There are tons and tons of insects out there and many can be represented in paper. Basically i am saying its a topic on its own, i.e. Nocturnal Insects. If you really want to have birds though i can agree.
The purpose of the ODT is not to "Win" but to improve your designing skills and mainly have fun! I have never used an effective tesselation graft before nor have i made a single nocturnal animal. The only building i have actually designed was a simple tribute to 9/11. In the topics i post i want to give a challenge to not only my opponent but myself as well. If you want to insist on Insects and birds go ahead.

^ I was thinking the same about the insects as well. Good decision on reinstating birds.

After reading the discussion I did a quick search. Wikipedia is your friend!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_nocturnal_animals
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_nocturnal_birds
I guess the insects don't count, but the scorpion actually does.
Great topic btw!

I have an entry:
Nothing occured more nocturnal to me than a Vampire bat. I tried to get the Fangs, which are characteristic to the Vampire bat. 30x30 square of Elefant Hide.

Re: ODT 4 Round 1 chesscuber vs greencube
Great design! I like the face part
Anyway,here's my entry : Tiger
Flickr에서 green cube님의 Tiger
When I heard about the topic, I wanted to fold a bat or an insect, but as the modern einstein said, insects and arachnids are not purely noctunal.(Even though chesscuber agreed on insects to be folded in this challenge, but I still think its wrong to say the insects are a topic on its own. The meaning is right but if you want to separate it into two different topics, 'animal' and 'insect & arachnids', you need to divide 'animal' into all species, like 'fish','bird','reptile' etc because they are topic on its own(there are tons of them as insects and arachnids as you said.).But the topic was just 'animal', so its probably right to include the insects and arachnids.)
Well, it wasn't a big problem because I folded a tiger for my entry
