Monthly Folding Challenge - July 2014

Post by JAPC »

Hi everybody!
For this month the topic will be "METAMORFOSIS".
The idea is to chose a simple model, tradicional or not (preferible under 20 steps), and transform it into another model.
You can redesign it or you can shape it differently, so it resembles to the original or not, it´s up to you to decide.
For non traditional models you must always give the name of the author of the model and a picture of the original fold.
Here some examples:

Crane variation by master Eric Joisel

Rules, same as always:
-Any number of sheets or shape of sheets;
-No cutting, no pasting;
-MC shaping is allowed
-You can submit as many models as you want

For this challenge yagowe will be the judge and will also choose the August theme.

Have fun :D

yagowe is going to judge this month's winner and will choose the august challenge topic, not the september one ...
if you're going to visit my little flickr_gallery, please leave a comment - a critical one is welcome, too, if necessary: http://www.flickr.com/photos/57625237@N02/

I've designed a model called "The devil inside a man" I adopted the base from Peter Stein's Human Base. Is it acceptable?

Hi Swapnil Das! I Guess Its ok to post your model, since you mentioned that it was created it from another base. Don't forget to post a reference picture of the original, if you can. I look forward to seeing it. :)

Great! But I changed the model to, "Offside!" It's a referee holding out an offside flag.

Hi 1 alexm! Nice transformation, keep them coming :D
Here is another example to inspire you guys. (This one should not be considered for the challenge).
A quick sketch - from a bird base to a mask. I added some photos of the process.

Goblin's head

Made from a traditional crane, I came up with it whilst trying to teach my daughter to fold a crane, from post-it notes. This one is from a 16cm square of murano paper, painted with acrylic prior to folding.

The joy of being August's judge and of choosing September challenge's theme. Oh, and add to that some creative experience! :D
