Never turn it over

Post by brycestopher »

Hey origami friends!

I have a challenge for you all. ...

I am wondering if anyone can create a 25 fold origami that you NEVER turn over.

I was looking at many lotusflowers (and other flowers) in a time lapse video as they bloomed in the morning and retracted in the evening and thought wow! The beauty of it folding and unfolding without having to turn it over might be possible in paper.

If you figure this out I'd love to see it! Doesn't have to be a flower and doesn't have to be symmetrical either. .. but about 25 folds where you don't turn it over.

Have fun!

Does "repeat 10-17 behind" count as turning over? If not, a few of my designs count, as well as almost any box-pleated model.

Mountain-fold in half. Valley open the other half.
That turns the paper over.
If mountain folds are allowed, then technically one can do any model.
Do you mean that you should be able to fold it keeping the paper mostly parallel to the table and your face?

You asked for a 25-fold model with no turning over?

25-gons I've done before, but I've never tried decreeping without turning to the bottom. It's hard!
