Monthly Folding Challenge: February 2015
Sooooo...
Welcome to the second folding challenge of this year!
Normally, we used to accept February as the month of love because it has a very special day in it: Valentine's day!
But this time I decided to make exception. Most of you anyway will fold hearts, flowers etc no matter with or without this challenge.
So, this month the subject is quite opposite: FEAR
1. You are welcome to create all monsters or other scary characters from movies/cartoons/games etc
example:
Slenderman by Ivan Danny, on Flickr
2. Every model/composition that make you afraid of.
Example:
Rising zombie skeleton (1/2) by mr.origami, on Flickr
3. Every model that represents any kind of phobias: claustrophobia, entomophobia etc
Note: if you chose to create, for example, Dendrophobia (Fear of trees) its not enough to fold only tree. The main idea is to represent PHOBIA. So it can be a tree with scary face, a person tied up with the brunches of tree and so on.
For the inspiration: http://phobialist.com
Technical rules:
1. ONLY SQUARE PAPER IS ALLOWED!
Exception: some compositions with several objects but EACH from square paper.
2.You can design a scene.
3. No cut, no glue
4. Paint, glitter, etc, is allowed.
5.You must use your own design.
6. The model must NOT have been folded or posted on the internet before February 2015

I have an idea, but it's more amusing than terrifying imo. However, it does exist as a phobia, albeit one without a proper name. If I finish it up I'll submit it, and ask marmalade or kirakinn to say whether or not it' acceptable

The piece is called "Dental Placque."
There is a fear of teeth, plaque, and tooth decay, and I'm sure there are people who are fearful of winning awards and trophies, so why not combine them both! A placque dedicated to plaque, which is terrifying in its own way!

Wow! Beautiful entries here! Nepafarius, in my opinion, your model nicely fits this subject becauseI a lot of people experience some degree of dental fear, from mild to severe. This is very common phobia for every country and every age. Congratulation for this meaningful model!
And JAPC, what a great pose did you chose, what a great combination of fun and fear!!! This is VERY emotional and VERY living model! Congratulation to you too!

Wow, thanks marmalade! I was just going for something quirky and decided a pay on words would be nice.
And I agree, JAPC your model is great!

Long time no see, my friends.
Before starting the new semester in March, I was recently working on ways of using the traditional Bird Base. Of course, in the early times of my designs, like 'whip spider', I was already studying on those techniques but wasn't really happy with the results.
So, as one of the result of my weeks work, here is my new design folded from pure traditional Bird Base. And of course, it's a 'monster'
Chocobo Eater! from 'Final Fantasy'
---------------
24 teeth, backbone, shoulders, toes, every thing is in the model..
Well, because of the bad quality of the paper, the model didn't go 'well' as I constructed..but.. I guess it's fine as long as you guys like it
Hope you guys like it!!!

When I heard that the theme for this month was fear my brain leapt immediately to H. P. Lovecraft and his most famous creation, Cthulhu.
Here's my origami Cthulhu Idol. Click the picture to go to my flickr and read a little piece of (very) short fiction I've written to tie this image into the Cthulhu mythos.

The world's worst photographer now has a flickr account... enjoy!

Juston, I need diagrams. Physically need them.
Shortoldude, I like the concept of Death being the ultimate fear, I do however prefer the other design you had, really ups the foreboding.
Balto, cool design, like the history tie-in.
Greencube, holy crap, that is one crazy looking model. Even though I'm not versed in FF lore, your pieces never fail to impress.
Last day, all latecomers get crackin'!
