Welcome to April! The topic for this month is Spring.

Design a model demonstrably relating to the word or season of spring. Get as clever as you want with it, so long as you follow the rules:

-Relates to the topic
-is folded from an uncut square (s)
-multiple sheets are allowed
-no glue, unless it is Mc

Baltorigamist will judge.

Good luck!

That's a good one! Both meanings in one word, excellent.

Cherry blossom trees are a beautiful part of spring for Japan, Washington DC, and many other places. They symbolize life: beautiful and magnificent while it lasts, but tragically, miserably, short; and they produce cherries! The trees blossom en masse once a year during the spring, a sight that people always look forward to seeing.

This model, which is about the size of a real-life bonsai tree, was made from a 55cm sheet of kami, the only pink paper that I had. It was a struggle to get the woody texture and the color changed flowers, but I think it worked out pretty well. There is a total of about 50 flowers; quite a feat to fold from one piece of paper.

Anyways, this is my entry.

Crease -> For some reason your images aren't showing up on my computer right now. Is there another place where you could upload them?

Almost halfway, everyone. Let's get some more entries in the next couple weeks!

Hello!
Well, this is my debut in origami challenges.
I've been thinking a lot about what to create and then I occasionally heard that Mother's day in USA is celebrated on thirteenth of May. This way I realized that between all of the origami models there are really low quantity of models dedicated to Mothers though there are incredible designs by Takeda Naoki and Neelesh K.
This is created in 22,5 degree technique. The goal was to leave the biggest amount of paper for making the fabrics. Also, I've been experimenting a lot while folding the faces, so I created new metyhod to make more detailed face.
This model took me 3 days to create the model and the whole 3 weeks to fold it. This was the hardest work I've ever done because of its shaping. The shaping is the main part of this model and it was hard to let the paper curl like the drapery.
All in all, I'm satisfied with the result, though I think it could have much more orderly fabrics with the silk paper. Maybe I'll fold this model with another paper later.

Great! Welcome!

Just to be clear, the connection to spring is that mother's day is in the spring, right?

Thanks!
Yes, of course. I think, spring's holiday belongs to the spring theme :D
Also, spring is known for the awakening of human soul and love. In Russia it feels as sharp as knife. So, if Love is the main topic of spring, why mother's endless love can't be the main topic of spring, too?

Alright, this wasn't easy to judge, but I have to say the winner is NeverCeaseToCrease with his cherry blossom tree. I really like the concept, and the color change is great as well. (Plus it was a great idea to put it in a pot.)

Iren, your model definitely has a lot of potential. :)
