VIII International Origami Internet Olympiad

Post by anermak »

Image

The 8th Open International Origami Olympiad will be held on the internet from October 15th, 2018 to November 18th, 2018(the exact time will specified in control panel of contestants!!).
Participation is free, every origamist has the opportunity to take part in the Olympiad.

How to take part in the Olympiad:

1) All participants should fill in a folders APPLICATION FORM
The request must be sent no later then October 14th, 2018 (the exact time and other useful information you can find in the official IOIO-2018 WEB PAGE ).

2) After the start you can find the tasks in your profile at profile
The olympic e-books are ONLY FOR PERSONAL USAGE and may not be distributed on the internet (as well as published in any other way).

3) The Olympics tours includes approximately 10-12 tasks: diagrams of various difficulty levels (from easy to complex), СРs, tessellations, etc., and a theme for your own work. Each model will be awarded with a certain number of points.
Photos of the completed tasks must be sent no later then exact time specified in control panel of contestants!!).

4) The winners will be chosen by a competent jury in three weeks after the deadline.

For Designers:
If you wish to participate in this event, please fill in a special APPLICATION FORM for designers with your diagrams, CPs or photo-diagrams until August 10, 2018. If your diagram is selected for the Olympiad, it will be added to the e-book with tasks. All authors who have sent their diagrams will get the olympiad e-book at their e-mail.

The quality of the diagrams, CPs and photo-diagrams doesn't matter, because all diagrams will be tested and redrawn in the same style. This is a great opportunity for you not only to obtain high-quality tested diagrams of your models, but also to see them folded by a lot of great origamists all over the world.

If someone's model is one of the tasks, can they still compete?

Yes, I also have the same question as Tankoda, as well as two others:
1. Are we allowed to submit a design that we will or already have submitted to another unpublished organization, such as the origami Christmas book that Anna runs?
2. If you do not accept our design, can we publish/post them elsewhere?

Designers can not participate in the folder part.
But - full list of designers (whose models are included in the contest) will be published by the beginning of September and if designer name is not on the list - then he can send another application as a folder.

Yes - it's not a problem, but unpublished materials have a little priority when will selecting tasks.

Yes.

Will every microsoft based account be blocked? Also, I entered diagrams on the last day but through a microsoft account on the application form. I haven't got an e-mail about it. Can I still get the task book or get picked?

Will you be posting a list of the people who have entered (this is helpful for those of us who want to make sure our form went through!) and the list of recommended papers this year?

THANKS

Whose designs will be part of IOIO?
If my design won’t be one of the tasks I would like to send my application as a folder.

Found this on the official facebook page:

IOIO team keeps experimenting to make the Olympiad a better experience for everybody.
We heard your feedback about Round 2 being too exhausting and overloaded with complex models, and decided to reduce the number of tasks.
On the other hand, this year we intend to make the qualification round more challenging, giving the jury members more precise criteria to make their decisions in such a short time.
And, as promised, here is the list of the authors:
Andrey Ermakov (Russia)
Elke Muche (Germany)
Pei Haozheng (China)
Li Lianhua (China)
Marcelo Arispe-Guzman (USA)
Peter Stein (Germany)
Simon Marynissen (Belgium)
Carlson Choo (Malaysia)
Nguyen Ngoc Thanh (Vietnam)
Fu Wei (China)
Usman Rosyidhi (Indonesia)
Ryoichi Takagi (Japan)
