Hello everyone and welcome to August's challenge!

The theme for this month will be: Cinematography

Anything that you think can fit in cinematography world, a video camera, a cameraman filming something, a rolling cart, an old camera with film rolls, a movie character... just let your imagination flow.

Can be used one or more sheets of paper, no cuts or glue (MC can be used).

NeverCeaseToCrease will judge.

Good luck everyone!

Here's my design. What does it look like to you? Can you tell without looking at the title? Even better, can you determine it's structure and fold it just by looking at it?

Sorry for the terrible photo quality.
I believe this fits the theme for multiple reasons. One, you see these a lot in movies, and two, it's in a classic cinematic pose. I might try design something else if I have time.
Also, can someone please tell me how to show pictures straight from flickr? [-o<
And come on people, start designing more things for these challenges! Back in 2010 there were loads of entries every month!

I started to think that I killed it with this theme :).
The first thought was Gul'Dan/Illidan, but that just my point of view. Anyway, I like the idea.

You know you can shoot another photo anytime :D

Just click "Share" button on flickr photo, go to BBCode, select a dimension for your photo and copy the link. Then paste it on a post.

Folderp -> Not having seen many movies, I can't quite identify it. It looks good though.
About embedding pictures, I'll warn you that 640x480 is the maximum resolution allowed.

I have a great idea for this challenge, btw, but it'll be a challenge to fold.

Embedding photos from flickr: In the grey frame the picture is displayed on on flickr, on the bottom right there are some symbols. The second from left looks like an arrow pointing to the right. That's flickr's "Share" symbol. Click it and choose the tab "BBCode". There on the drop down menu choose "Middle 640x480". You will get a link that you can copy and paste to your post on the Forum.

And a little correction to what Baltorigamist said: There is actually no Rule regarding the picture size, but the Forum will only allow pictures up until 640 pixels width, so you can also post pictures with a size of 640x640 px for example.

Thanks for that. Here's the image.

I might take a better one later. Anyway, I have another idea for an entry, from an odd shaped rectangle, since the rules don't specify a square. I think it's achievable...

For your next photo go a bit away from the model with the camera and make sure to have enough light. Your camera wasn't able to focus. That happens most often if you are too near to your model. You can still crop the photo afterwards if you like, but go further away. A good and free program, to do minor adjustments like cropping, is IrfanView. If you took the photo on your Smartphone, the camera app most likely has this function too. A good camera app for better photos is "Open Camera", for some Smartphones it makes dramatically better pictures.

Any shape you like :)

You know, I'm almost beginning to think you've killed it as well. If no one else enters, this will be the second worst design challenge, and my superhero will be the worst design challenge winning model ever.

Well, thinking on the bright side, there are still three days left and a lot can happen in three days. If anybody is looking for ideas, I'll rattle off a list right here in addition to Razvan's list in the original post: popcorn, soda, film rolls, Oscar trophies, a mic, money, a musician, an actor (can be a person dressed as anything!), tickets, a computer, theater curtains, an annoying cell phone, or pretty much anything from any movie. There's a lot of stuff. Let's get the creative juices flowing!

And Balto, you told everybody you had a great idea earlier. Please do show us!

I'm trying to make it work. I have to balance folding time with work and college, which is difficult to say the least.

Some new designs and better photos. Two days to go!
I'm quite pleased with this one:

Here's a better picture of my superhero.

And here's a character that looks more like it came out of a play:

I'm not sure if you can tell, that photo's worse than the other two, but if you see it in person it really does look quite sad.

Here's my design for this challenge, folded from a 35cm square of kami:

DVD - my design by Goldtiger997, on Flickr

It's a DVD, which can be thought of as the final result of cinematography. Long hours of filming and acting are all compressed into this small disk. My design has a fairly simple structure, so I'm sure something similar has been done before. It does have some nice features though, such as completely locking into place, being symmetrical on the other side, and having all of the reverse side of the paper covered.

At first I was thinking of folding a clapperboard complete with colour-changes and a hinge, but I was unable to achieve this to a satisfactory degree.

Neat!
Only the DVD is folded, right? The black part is a real DVD player?

I will have an entry in tomorrow, by the way.
