Monthly Design Challenge - October 2018

Post by Baltorigamist »

This month, the topic is STAGES OF LIFE. Be as creative as you want with your interpretations because I think there's a whole host of possibilities. Don't limit yourself to just humans, either: the subject matter is as diverse as life itself.

RULES
One square, no cuts or glue. MC allowed.
Model(s) must be designed this month (specifically for this challenge).

Juston will judge. Good luck to everyone!
After the fall, we rise.

This has been a very difficult challenge for me. It's hard to show a stage of life with geometric origami. Even harder with a single piece of paper. I don't know if this will meet the criteria, but these depict stages of my folds as I created the flower vase and reflect the budding and then blooming of a flower. Nice, Grace159!
Here's mine: Adult pterosaur with two juveniles. Based on Pterodaustro. Each 1 square sheet of double tissue with MC. The big one is 4 inches to a side, and the smaller ones are either 2 or 2.5 inches to a side. No cuts or glue. It is a 22.5 degree design.
I turned up the beak to hint at their weird teeth.

Those are some very different entries. I liked them both very much but it was hard to judge them against each other because they almost seemed like entries from different challenges.

I especially liked your very different interpretation of the theme, Grace. And Travis, your choice of subject matter was great.

I think I'm going to have to give it to Travis this time. I think your presentation was a little stronger and that, ultimately, sold the theme a little more for me.

Travis will judge this month's challenge and decide the theme of next month's.

The amount of entries was kind of sad. However, it WAS IOIO round 1 and ODT Round 1 (I would have entered, but I was too busy designing for ODT), but it's still a little disappointing. But well done to Tankoda, and I like your models.

Yay! Thanks everyone.
I forget, when I pick the theme for December, can I still enter?
