Monthly Design Challenge - November 2018

Maybe I still have Halloween on the brain but this month's theme is masks, helmets, crowns, and hats.

Design something that can be worn on the face or the head (you needn't fold it life size if you don't have sufficiently large paper but, as a wise man once said, it'd be a lot cooler if you did).

You can use one or more sheets of paper, no cuts. Tankoda will judge this month.

Are hoods allowed? For instance, a sketchy person with a hoodie?

Dang, I wish I had put off folding my centurion helmet til this month. I'll try and think of something else!

Hopefully I can fold my design in time.

I haven't really folded many hats/crowns. So imagine my surprise that the angel I was trying to create turned into a samurai like hat :)

Here's my entry.

It's a winged helmet, coming from a waterbomb base with a 16x16 grid. I'm quite happy with how it turned out.

I like this one a lot :) It also would not take much at all to turn it into a golden snitch.

Thanks, and yes it wouldn't be too hard to make a golden snitch out of it.

Here goes:
Good job Grace and Folderp! I liked both of your entries.
Grace, I liked the simplicity and cleanness of your clapping finger puppet hat, and the expressiveness of the animal hat. I would have liked to see the animal hat folded with a bigger paper to see more of the detail that you might be able to get out of it. That being said, I chose Folderp's winged helmet to win this challenge. Folderp, you did a good job achieving a smooth color change, and I think your model fit the challenge the best, specifically as a hat. The hat shaping reminds me of Roman armor. Nice work!
Congrats Folderp, you will judge the December contest, and pick the topic for January.

Thanks! Grace's gesigns were really cool too, but once again, there were disappointingly few entries. Everybody enter next month! And I'm gonna need to think of a good topic...

I love your topic. Can we do plants of the permian period as well?
