December/January Challenge topics

Hi Guys!

First of all I want to apologise for the delay but work at the office is piling up :(

Since this month is to be dedicated to our familes and holidays, time will be short to start another challege...

So as suggested by some users here are the four topics for the next December/January challenge:

1- LESS IS MORE - This is a particular theme that I love let´s see what you have to say/fold about it;

2- Zeitgeist - Feel free to speak/critic what goes on your soul about current times. You can approach politics, climate change, art... or whatever goes in your mind;

3- EROTIC - Well no need to log explanations on this one :)

4- ABSTRACT - For this topic the idea is to create a coherent piece, having in mind the aesthetics and balance of origami. I wish I can see really art works :D

This is my proposals... I'll be waiting to see your opinions

João

I wouldn't really mind any of these topics, though I've always gotten the impression that this forum is family-friendly....
My vote would go to option 4, but maybe we can have all simultaneous topics?

I agree with Balto, erotic origami is definitely not the way to go. I know minimalist/abstract origami can be really interesting. However, I would personally prefer to express or see what others think of the current zeitgeist (which if you don't know what that is btw, since until recently I didn't, its basically the common mindset of the people).

Also, is there a way to add a poll to the top of the post?

I once watched an episode of the cartoon show Adventure Time, which I thought was very insightful about abstract art. These are the most interesting quotes:
Jermaine wrote:I painted so many landscapes that the shapes of the land began to lose their meaning. And the shapes broke apart to me, so I painted them like that. And it's not like my new paintings erase my old paintings. They're both me.
Jake wrote:...do you have any more of these paintings? The shapes are always changing. Change is their normal state, like us. Even if we're not changing on the outside, we're changing on the inside constantly
I really recommend the episode, it only lasts 11 minutes: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6s9n6a

I wanted to ask. When will the poll close?

Also, judging from the current results, you guys really don't like erotic art. Do you think there's no such thing as an artistic nude? Just curious :-k.

It's not that I don't appreciate erotic art. It is more that I am happy to keep this public forum a place that I can show my origami class, which often has children under the age of ten along with their parents.

^ I agree completely.

How long is the poll set to run?

Initially I forgot to set a date, but I think it has been running long enough now. Since there doesn't seem to be a way to just stop it, I set the run-time to one day now.

Now we need a set of rules.... Given that the topic looks to be Abstract, would anyone object to having the standard "one sheet, no cuts"? I feel like that would make the most sense since cuts and multiple sheets give too much freedom--especially regarding an abstract style.

JAPC, what say you?
