You could cut where the fold would be and then add a hinge.

Not very puristic then. Well, neither is the material

If you're still looking for ideas about creating using materials you've never used before, maybe you can fold an astronomical telescope mirror that can compact itself so to transport it to outer space and deploy when it arrives at its destination . You would probably need something different from paper, at least a mirror... hmmmm, what else ?

So what do you think ?

I have a feeling that has been done before but good idea. Now we just need to find something to do this......Can't wait for the results on May 31 or June 1. Now I really need to finish ODS2. Good Luck for all!

Last day of the challenge. C'mon gals/guys! It would be wonderful to see more models created for a different material. Since it's a Sunday maybe you'll have enough time to create a last-minute contending model

The bags which have since been used opened with a quick shake as the lock did not hold. The paper version demonstrated in the video can be unlocked completely as shown or partially to create a pocket.

I think Grace's idea of folding plastic bags can be very useful. I fold mine using the flag fold so they won't take up too much space. When I saw the picture of Grace's folded bags, particularly the one with the handles sticking out, I thought that a bag fold that would allow you to unfold it completely by just pulling would be very interesting. As Grace demonstrated, her fold isn't there yet and isn't the best for plastic. I'd love for her to create such a bag fold. I think it would be very cool to have all your folded bags together, take one out, pull and voilá... an unfolded bag! I believe that kind of design is right up her alley.

Continuing, ScaFS gets the cuteness award. Plastic Squirrel is so cute and simplistic. I love it! It took me a moment to see it but, once I did, I couldn't stop seeing it. I personally would have wished for the color of the material to be appropriate for the model, or in this case, for there to be a profound reason (other than availability) to fold a blue squirrel.

Nepafarius model is the most complex of the three, which I'm usually not that into. What I wish to highlight of the model is that, although the painting wasn't the best, the model took to its advantage the transparency of the material in order to evoke the body of the sea slug. Its shape is very close to the real ones, particularly to the group named "sea angels": https://www.google.com/search?q=%22sea+ ... s&tbm=isch

Having said that, the winner is... (drum roll)... Nepafarius's clione. The main reason why I chose it is that, between the three, his model took better advantage of the chosen material which, as you know, was the theme of this challenge. Using the transparency of cellophane in order to evoke the appearance of the animal's body was an excellent idea!

Thank you three for participating. I wanted to also take the opportunity to mention that I wished I could have seen a broader spectrum of materials regarding the submitted models. All three of them were made of different versions of plastic, but there are so many more foldable materials in the world. You know?

Thank you Gerardo, and good job on your models, Grace and ScaFS. I don't know much about tato, but I can tell it was really smartly made. And sometimes I wish I could convey an idea so succintly as that squirrel.
