That's a bit of an abuse of language

. I've never looked prices up, but even nowadays, probably one could afford folding with very thin gold foils as found e.g. in Thailand to cover statues of the Buddha, stuck on paper...

It's the paper sold by Nicolas, brown on the reverse side and extremely flexible, flattened at length to get rid of as many creases as I could without tearing it.

The sarcophagus is created from a 10:13 rectangle. It's quite impressive that the simple shapes used in the model truly remind me of a sarcophagus! Great job, Sunburst.

Sorry for double posting, but here's my entry for this month:

This design is created from a 256x256 grid. I originally wanted to make it based on a 512x512 grid, but unfortunately, I didn't have the time to do so. Furthermore, a 1x1 meter sheet of kraft paper turned out to be too small for such a grid (-I actually started folding the 512ths, but I quickly realised it wouldn't be feasible given the time and resources). I would've greatly preferred to fold this model from a strong paper, like Elephant hide, but unfortunately I don't have a 1x1 meter sheet of it. I chose Kraft paper, because the colour fits the model, is relatively strong and it comes in huge sizes. Nevertheless, at this size the model became a bit wobbly, and started to sink under its own weight; a better paper choice would've definitely helped me overcome such problems.

It has 32 'levels', each of which is roughly 0,8 centimetres high. The total folding time, excluding the designing process, was approximately 32 hours, spread out over two thirds of this month; In a sense I folded 1 level per hour.

An amazing feature of this model is that it looks phenomenal when backlit; I'm afraid I won't have the time to properly photograph the model by the end of this month, so I apologise for the relatively poor picture quality and I will try to upload a backlit picture as soon as possible (-I may get lucky tomorrow!).

If anyone is interested, I'll draw diagrams, or at least a CP, explaining the construction of this model.

I would like that. I've seen similar type of structures, but I have no idea how they are made and my attempts to create the step pyramid of Djoser went nowhere because I couldn't figure out how to make the structure.
