"Outbox" box

Post by Brimstone »

I had never paid attention to the names of the boxes in the private messages section. I sent someone a PM recently and when i didn't get and answer and went looking for the date I had sent it but the message was not in the sent box. I kept cheking and clicked on the outbox and it is there.

What is this outbox for? And should my message had left it when I clicked on send?

The Outbox is where messages go that are to be sent, they stay there until the recipient reads them. Some members don't care about private messages - although they should - so it can happen that the message stays there forever. As long as the message is still in the Outbox you can edit or delete it. Once the message appears in the Sentbox, the recipient read it. You can delete the message from your Sentbox if you do not need it any longer or keep it for reference.
The Inbox is where all the messages go that you receive.

Attention: Sentbox and Inbox have limited capacities. You should make sure they aren't full, otherwise you can't send/receive messages.

When I read the notification for a reply on this message I had forgotten I had written in a topic named outbox box and thought it was some kind of cool origami box. Still finding out your message was nice, thanks for the reply.

Well, reading the topic title, my first thought also was Origami Box, maybe the Inside-Out-Box by Thoki Yenn.

Did you read what Anna said?

PMs go to the Outbox when you send them.
When the recipient reads the message, it moves to the Sent Box.

If a message is in the Outbox, then it means you've sent it, but it hasn't been read yet.
If the person you sent it to doesn't read it, it will stay there.

Anna also mentioned that some people don't check their messages, so perhaps the person you're PM'ing is one of those.
