Looking for dual-coloured origami paper sold by colours

Post by AileenEdwin »

Hello everyone :)
I know how to make dual-coloured origami paper but because it's from two sheets it will be too thick for a complex model.
I have seen dual-coloured origami paper for sale in mixed sets only. I need a lot of only one colour combination at the moment. I am looking for where I could buy many pieces of brown+green dual-coloured origami paper. Please would any one be able to point me in the right direction?
Thank you,
:)

Try using double tissue. They're quite thin and when mixed together they make a great team. :)

Thank you sr123ification :)
I think the tissue paper will be difficult to glue. I would like to find a shop or website that sell the dual-coloured origami paper by colours so that I can buy only the green+brown.

Kim's Crane has packages with brown-green only. But I guess 15cm will be a bit small if you plan to fold something more complex.

Have you considered colouring one side of the sheet with artists acrylic. It doesn't add noticeably to the thickness won't crack on the creases, plus you can mix whatever shade you like!

the only place i know of that sells duo in 24 cm is roze.co.uk.

almost completely off topic, i do believe that another poster is correct, and that "shoyu" paper is the same as VOG/crumpled paper. they have quite a large selection of this, but i haven't liked the paper enough to try ordering from them to see.

You are posting a question that most of us have grappled with at one time or the other.
The bottom line, there does not seem to be a quick & easy answer.
There was a company that allowed you to custom choose duo colors, but I don't know if it is still in existence.
Second best bet is to survey BOS supplies and OUSA supplies, get paper size and colour of your choosing, methyl cellulose the two colours together.
A third possibility remains in that you might contact Michael Lafosse directly, inquire as to whether a project batch may be run. Be sure to give him comprehensive details of your needs. Don't know if he would have the inclination or time for this. The paper would be outstanding, the cost would be prohibitive .
Ultimately, most of us just learn , by trial & error, how to make our own duo paper.
May I wish success to all who cope with the mountains & valleys of Life,
with all its peaks & depths, as well as Origami .

Thank you Anna, Edg, bethnor and gordigami :) All of your replies have helped me. I have tried making my own dual-coloured paper, dual-coloured foil paper and colouring the paper in pencil :) They are good for easy models, for complex models they are quite thick. Colouring the paper with pencils makes it waxy, from my experience. I haven't tried colouring the paper with acrylics yet.
