Treating Lokta with Methyl Cellulose

Post by danwood86 »

I recently bought some Lokta. Should I go ahead and treat it with Methyl Cellulose? I read that origami-shop "treats" their paper. I'm not sure if they are treating it with MC.

What would be the advantages and disadvantages of treating it with MC?

Personnaly, I'd say sizing lokta (with mc, or something...) is a must. It's so soft, it will be pretty hard to fold. From my experience, make sure the "furry" side is on the inside of the model, or it gets very fuzzy during shaping! I don't think origami shop treats any of their papers, but I may be wrong.
Sizing with mc will give a stiffer paper which is much easier to fold.
