Do any of you guys know what paper he uses? I've been looking around for a while and I found this paper which looks to be the same. its called fanci foil (like foil paper I think) and its very popular on origami reddit.

the reason I think its fancifoil is this picture: https://www.flickr.com/photos/56997154@ ... ateposted/
If you look at the front legs you see something that looks just like a paper backing akin to foil paper. Also the texture is the same.

He says here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/56997154@N06/22675193177/ that the paper he uses is called Dó Paper.

I know about the Dó paper and I don't think that is Dó paper although the caption says other wise.

That was folded from Dó paper, and this is folded from tissue foil

The texture of the paper in the picture you linked is similar to that of his "tissue foil" which makes me almost certain that the description is incorrect. I've also never seen a handmade paper with that texture.

I don't think i would trust his captions either (due to translation mess ups and the like). On his Instagram photo of his new scaled dragon, he says it uses a 96 box pleat on a 90 cm paper, while the flickr description states that he used a 100 cm square and that the grid was 108.

It looks like the paper thats inside a pack of sigarettes. It would be nice to get big sheets of that stuff. I remember searching for it after seeing it but I never found it.

Just thought of another possibility. It is handmade, he calls it do paper or tissue foil. So maybe he uses foil with some kind of "grid" texture or maybe the surface where he makes his paper on has a texture, the tissue "takes over" the texture of the surface while you make tissue foil.

I guess that's always a possibility. It think there is a high chance that his "tissue foil" is some of that handmade paper glued onto a foil paper (I don't think that aluminum foil comes with that texture and gold color normally) similar to how Bethnor makes tissue foil with japanese foil. It would explain the thickness as well (handmade papers are in my experience just slightly thicker than regular tissue paper).
