Where to buy paper in Tokyo

Post by FoldSkate »

Hey, I'm planning a trip to Tokyo with my friends next year, and i was wondering if anyone knew any good places to buy paper. I know I can just google paper stores when I'm there but was hoping someone knew some specific places that are really good, I was reading on someones flickr the other day that they went to the same store to get the same paper Kamiya used for his ancient dragon, but I forgot where I found that information lol.

You can try Origami Kaikan near Ochanomizu station.
There is a large choice of papers (top floor of the place is where they make their own paper), and also many models to see while being there.

Otherwise, you can be surprised by the paper choice & quality in Tokyu Hands (you can find these shops almost everywhere in Japan. In Tokyo, I found nice papers in the Shibuya and Shinjuku ones, but visit any one you come across!).

Shimojima shops also usually have a choice of large papers fitting for origami.

Maybe those few advices can help you start your quest next year.

Sorry, I don't know what kind of paper Kamiya used for his dragon, nor where he bought it...
