I want to talk about a 3 x 3 m sheet used for origami using the US customary length units. These are questions for US citizens: should I use yards, feet, or inches? Should I combine feet and inches like when referring to a person's height? Should I also add 16th divisions like when using inches?
Thank you in advance.

My suggestion would be to use feet since most people are most familiar with it. Combining feet and inches shouldn't be necessary--just round to the nearest foot (e.g., "a 10-foot square").

Thank you Baltorigamist! And the lack of precision using only feet doesn't bother you guys? In the US, people don't use decimals nor fractions when measuring with just feet, right?

The average person off the street isn't very concerned with precise measurements when it comes to a lot of things, as far as I'm aware. If you really want to be as precise as possible, use inches, but I don't think it's that necessary. (It would be a little over 118"--just shy of 10'. In this case, feet is sufficient.)

For height, people here usually use the foot and inches, for example, "I am 5 foot 6"
For origami paper, it's sometimes in inches, but since a lot of the paper is from other countries, most folders are fine with cm. I have not seen any paper dimensions that go up to 16ths, its usually just either a half inch or whole inch and the rest is rounded.
