Stone paper (limestone paper)

Post by rwzheng1997 »

Has anyone here tried folding anything with the paper made from pulverized limestone? It's supposed to be quite thin, extremely durable (seems like one can practically yank on it without tearing), waterproof, and probably the much more durable than any pulp papers.

Anyone here have experience with this?

Since it only contains polyethylene (plastic) and and calcium carbonate, I suspect it would not be much good for folding, as plastic does not tend to hold creases well. I have not tried it though so cannot say for sure.

You can probably make it yourself mixing calcium carbonate (Amazon) with a bonding polymeric agent such as polyvinyl acetate (PVA glue), after all, limestone paper is made mixing calcium carbonate (limestone) with a bonding polymeric resin (polyethylene). Whether the result is suitable for origami, as Merinygami suggests, is a different question.
